And congrats for making the mag regardless of what the haters have to say about it! I like the Ti being under the radar of the car market. Keeps the stupid kids wanting their first BMW when they are not even out of high school. 318tis have enough bad owners(not talking of enthusist but owners who simply want the badge as cheap as possible) as is. No need to invite more into the flock. OT rant. I like to ask people why they buy thier BMWs. Do they do it as a fling or passion. Do they jump brands like some people do with clothing. These are owners I can't stand. Just like owners who don't do thier work on their cars(within their limits I understand, your average shadetree isn't doing a clutch job on two jacks and some luck) I can stand those either. This is a true story, Kid get his first BMW, 91 318i(already leg-humping every M5 owner in the club) calls me up to change his oil..I figure I'll show him/instruct How to do it, as it's a pretty basic job...well it's sad really He has his dad do his change, and then asks me to drive the car to make sure it's done right....at which point I gave up. not willing to try to DiY on the simple jobs of car repair is just sad..not like you can really mess up a change...now his folk gave him a e38..and I am thinking to myself..you couldn't learn on a simple forgiving e30 M42..god forbid the M62(IIRC) 7 starts to act up...end rant. | | | 03-26-2007, 02:00 PM | #50 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2005 Location: çî†ÿ øf åNgëL§, CA Posts: 5,314 | Quote: Originally Posted by Panzer_M Also another thing. Atleast the basics that most people dont even do at all. Check the oil, all fluids. If it needs whatever fluid i put some more. I want to learn to do oil changes since im never there when my dad does it. When i got my CAI i put it on myself (i know its easy but i atleast did it on my own) There's some things ive done myself. I want to put the stromung exhaust on my own, and i will be doing my custom intake on my own when i get the stage 3. Im also gonna see into learning to change brake pads, rotors, and well all the basic crap to avoid paying places and to stop bother my dad unless i need a major thing done i dont know. | | | 03-27-2007, 03:21 AM | #51 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2003 Location: cary, nc Posts: 2,259 | i guess i got my ti because i wanted a bmw and it was the only one i could afford...i love it though and have learned tons of things about cars along the way (thanks ti.org) and now i never want to drive a car other than a bmw for the rest of my life __________________ 1995 318ti Active Pioneer Speakers [] Aluminum Billet door locks [] ACS Pedals/Deadrest [] ACS Shift Knob / E-Brake Handle [] Clear Corners/Tails/Sides [] Sylvania Exterior Lighting [] Custom CAI [] Dinan Engine Chip [] Dinan Transmission Chip [] H&R Race Springs [] Tokico Illumina Shocks [] BMW X-Brace [] Relocated Lighter Mod [] Custom iPod Mod http://www.cardomain.com/id/robcarync | | | 03-27-2007, 03:26 AM | #52 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2005 Location: çî†ÿ øf åNgëL§, CA Posts: 5,314 | Quote: Originally Posted by robcarync i guess i got my ti because i wanted a bmw and it was the only one i could afford...i love it though and have learned tons of things about cars along the way (thanks ti.org) and now i never want to drive a car other than a bmw for the rest of my life | + a 1,000,000,000 Unless they let me burrow another car or something. But if its under my name, it'll be a bmw for sure. | | | 03-27-2007, 03:51 AM | #53 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2005 Location: Quad Cities, Iowa Posts: 2,110 | +1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000. I was brought home from the hospital in a BMW, my first car was a BMW, and when I go you best believe it will be in a BMW! I understand where Panzer is coming from and honestly I agree with him. I probably ruined my car and that makes me sick. But enthusiasts have to start somewhere, you dont just automatically become a enthusiast on your 25th birthday or when your old enough to be responsible. __________________ "Drive Fast and Take Chances" | | | 03-27-2007, 08:31 AM | #54 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2006 Location: Boston, MA Posts: 1,152 | It's great that the 318ti made it into the Eurotuner mag! We are finally getting some exposure and respect for our ti. I see it as a positive step forward everytime the ti get some recognition. Maybe some of the other swapped or race built ti will be featured in others mag in the near future. Now wouldn't that be cool? This forum is more friendly than others and we should try to keep it that way. Don't we want to be different compared to others? Keeping a tight family should be one of the goal. | | | 03-27-2007, 10:43 AM | #55 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2005 Location: Portland Oregon Posts: 1,363 | Quote: Originally Posted by robcarync i guess i got my ti because i wanted a bmw and it was the only one i could afford...i love it though and have learned tons of things about cars along the way (thanks ti.org) and now i never want to drive a car other than a bmw for the rest of my life | True that, Before I got my ti I was looking at... Landrover discoverys 97+(for the family stuff) subaru wagons 99+ (for snowboarding) bmw 325-328 ish 4dr (I love sedans!) I got the ti because I have never seen a compact, it was so small, sleek, unlike any other bmw out there. At the time I knew nothing about cars so I got it, LOVE IT! My family loves it along with my friends and co-workers...they all want to drive it! ALso I got my dad interested in bmw's he is looking for a Z3 or M around 15K. I loved the article. I do wish you would have tken the cup holder out, but to each his own. Great job Marcus. | | | 03-28-2007, 07:19 AM | #57 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2005 Location: la jolla, ca Posts: 222 | I went to look at the Euroturner mag and found no such article...must've been the old ones in stock. Also I can't believe some of the comments in this thread, if I'm not mistaken this is 318ti.org...not BF.c or E46fanatics.com that are filled with ignorant 16 years old who look down upon anything they don't know about. Who cares if it's not your style...since when are we suppose to all conform and do the same thing? I feel bad for Marcus, he shares his car and his work only to get some rude commentary. Anyway, the car looks great and keep up the good work. __________________ Present: `99 M coupe Past: `91 330is; `95 318ti Active; `93 325is; `97 318ti Sport; `89 332is | | | 03-29-2007, 12:34 AM | #58 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2004 Location: cali Posts: 338 | I just wanted to thank every one for the comments. Overall I thought it was a very good article. If people don't like how it was written that is pretty much how they write all of their articles. Congratulations once again. | | | 03-29-2007, 04:15 AM | #60 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2005 Location: Portland Oregon Posts: 1,363 | I am going to look for it again | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
