Default rear wiper failure!!

The rear wiper on my bmw 318ti compact 2003 stopped in the middle of the screen and wouldnt work, it temporarily started to work again but now has stopped altogether iv heard its a common fault cause the screen wash runs through the motors and leaks and causes problems?? The fuses are all ok and checked all the wiring to the motor and seems ok! ran a multi meter on the power wire and it says 5 something, when the rear wiper is switched on with the stalk it still reads 5 something, it has power to the motor but should the volt reading change when the stalk is pushed to the rear windscreen wiper on position? Also does the rear wiper motor operate the screen wash too? i have no wiper action and no screen wash action! so really unsure if its the switch in the actual stalk????

many thanks

Default

Know how you feel. Mine worked one time since I bought it. Not sure if its the motor or the switch. Found a good deal on a motor from another member parting out so starting there. Hit up the for sale threads on part outs and see if you cant start small and get another switch. Good luck!

Default probably the motor

this is the inside of mine before I replaced it...(See link) cleaning won't help, once 'it goes' replacement is all there for it... if your going 'picking' to find one bring a t-20 torq wrench to look inside it!
