Default Outside door handle removal?

How do I remove the frame around the door handle on the outside? I read a guide, but I don't think it matches the e36. I just need to outer frame around the handle to come off. Will it be hell to put it back on?

It has "slide clip" on the inside of the door. To access it you need to remove the door panel, use a flash light to locate the clip and use a flat head screw driver to slide the clip... easy as pie!...

Which clip is it? From the looks of it, it looks like it's part of a base that doesn't detach from the frame. Could you use realoem and point it out to me?

Dude,
if you simply do as I described you will see the clip that you have to move/slide in order for the cover to be removed/installed. REMOVE the door panel, USE a FLASH LIGHT so you can see it, and there it'll be... it is very obvious, and it's function is to anchor/lock into place the the Door Handle Cover (which is what I think you want to replace), not the door handle itself.
Take a good look at it and you'll see it, I'm telling you cause I did it and I didn't take a look at it and it was a bitch for me to do it until I took a good look at it with a flash light and saw the sliding clip, after that it was easy as pie dude...
