My check engine light came on. The codes say the Cam sensor is the culprit. Am I doing any harm to the car driving it with a faulty cam sensor? Is it an easy fix? | | | 04-01-2005, 08:51 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: PA Posts: 822 | The thing is a pain in the ass to change. Well not really but getting the censor back in is a bitch because you cant see the spot while your hands are in there so you have to use touch to find the hole. My went bad and I changed it. I would change it if I were you. | | | 04-03-2005, 04:03 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Manhattan Kansas Posts: 242 | I have driven my TI with a bad sensor for a few months. I just ordered a new one last week, we'll see how easy it is to replace... I'll keep ya posted. | | | 04-04-2005, 01:50 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: Colyumbia S.C. Normally I order new OEM parts from pacific bmw, but I needed a few used parts as well. | | | 04-05-2005, 02:14 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2004 Location: San Diego Posts: 142 | Thanks a lot. The hardest part for me was getting the little fricking plastic clip off the block. Also be careful with the little clips that held it plugged in. I dropped mine and can't find it. I hope its not a problem. | | | 04-14-2005, 09:51 PM | #13 | Member Join Date: Sep 2003 Posts: 67 | Quote: Originally Posted by hotdog19d Thats what mine was doing too, I just finished installing the new one, pretty straight forward.
