Default Window Problem Update

I posted last week about my driver's window constantly falling into the door. I had several good suggestions - thanks.

Car has now been with dealer for almost a week (5th time in 3 months). They are stumped and called BMW engineering, and they had no solution. Now they are waiting for some roving BMW engineer to see if he can stop by to help! If he cannot the dealer said they would 'take a punt and figure something out'

Totally unbelievable.

It isnt too hard to figure out why it falls in! poor design in my opinion. Ive (my family has at least) owned several cars with automatic windows...and i have NEVER seen this happen to ANY car except bmw 3 series! even from friends cars and such, i told them what happened....and they never even knew a window could do that...because they have cars that actually have functional windows!

okay, sorry, but i have window problems too (though not at the moment)...had to vent for a sec

Just do a search. It's such an easy fix. The problem at the dealer is that they fix the little plastic guides but then rarely adjust the pitch of the window with the rear adjuster bolt (nor do they check that the rubber "liner" is present in the rear guide.) Anyway, change dealers or go to an independent shop and get it fixed today. Or do it yourself...there are five great write-ups about it here and on bimmerforums. I've done the adjustments myself on both 318ti's I've owned and never had a problem after that (not yet, at least.) Oh, and I've reminded my wife, but don't try to put the window down when it's freezing cold out and don't try to put it up with your arm resting on it! lol ... it doesn't hurt to restate the obvious.
