Not to split hairs, but anybody who mods an engine control chip is guilty of several offenses, copyright infringement being the smallest.

On the other hand maybe he did the homework everybody has been begging for and actually made it work.

Anybody who acts decently should get at least a chance to prove themselves....

Barrie;

Let's talk for a moment... I do not have an m42 in my Ti any longer, but an M50. It is a Vanos engine (1/95 prod date, still OBD1), basically stock. I am using a red label 413 DME.

What can you offer me?

Also, please specify what other changes are necessary to achieve the stated HP gains (ie; larger MAF, larger injectors, etc.)?

Thanks;

James

All my customers send me there stock chips and I do a read out. My data- base alone has 7 reversions of the 413ecu software with different checksums. What is more important is the numbers on the label of the chip. Before I can I give you any info I must know this. why you ask? well different emissions controls for different areas of the world exist and this is why there is different chip numbers along with hardware limitations

Please direct questions to my email at bmwconnections@rogers.com This way I can keep track who want's what and so on . thanks

cheers

The prices & HP rating were for the M42 . The M50 is whole other item and is 140$+shipping ( custom revlimit, 14-17hp increase, stock motor)

Has anyone on the forum yet tried one of these chips in their M42?

correct!! I use dyno only to get final HP numbers. Tuning is real time in a real environment is way more efficient. I also use a microphone beside the block and a set of headphones .

Depending on where the buyer lives I also make specific calculations and changes to compensate for altitude above sea level

Hmm very interesting. Could you explain a little more? I'm sort of skeptical...

Also, can you do OBD II tuning?

What is there to be skeptical about? What would you like me to explain?
Yes I can tune OBD2 and it requires thousands of dollars in special flashing hardware that most bmw owners don't have on hand. It's not practical to sell a OBD2 tune over the internet for this reason. There is however clone tools you can purchase on ebay that will get the job done but it's a hit and miss with those tools and they can if not used correctly lock your ecu up and make alot of problems

I'm wondering how you can get as good of a tune as a dyno-tuned car without using a dyno.

And for OBDII I meant physical presence-- as in someone mails their DME to you and you flash.

there is a lot of complicated math involved and even more factors such as Altitude, Air temp, humidity. The point is the dyno can never replicate the real life load and driving situations the car is faced with.

I'm not setup for bench flashing at this point in time but I may look into it in the future
