Now than my exterior is flashy and race looking i want an interior to match. my goal will be to remove all panels, mats, headboard and even my moon roof if needed. I know how to remove the rear seats but from there i am lost. Need help with rear side panels, headliner, carpet, and b-pillars. Now for other related matters.... Anyone know if a glass sheet can be made to be permenantly sealed in place instead of the whole Sun roof unit? Also painting or swapping the Dash? Any advise or recomendations? __________________ -1996 318TI ACTIVE PACKAGE (ALPINE WEISS): 75-0MPH IN 3 ROLLS AND AN END TO END FLIP.Mods: Complete M3 Body Kit, Carbon Fiber Side Mirrors, Carbon Fiber GTR Hood, Carbon Fiber Hatch, Carbon Fiber Sunroof Panel, Blacked Out Ambers and Taillights, 17' TSW Nagaro Rims, European Front License Plate, Sripped Out Interior, NRG Deep Dish Steering Wheel with MOMO Hub, NRG Carbon Fiber Shift Ball, Pioneer Avic N2 Stereo (Navigation/Bluetooth/CD), Cosmo Racing Cold Air Intake, Passenger Airbag Delete, Rear Wiper Delete, Blacked Out Kidney Grills, Projector Fog Lights, manual windows -1996 318TI CALIFORNIA EDITION (SCHWARZ ZWEI): BACK IN BLACK!Current Mods: European Front License Plate, Rear Wiper Delete, Bosch Miata Battery, Blacked Out Ambers, 17" Contours (non-staggered), Kenwood Stereo (Bluetooth/USB/CD), City Lights, Corner Running Light Delete, Rear Taillight Mod (//M style brake light), Passport 9500xi Radar Detector (Hardwired), Laguna Seca Decal, Stripped Out Interior, Debaffled Airbox, Blacked Out Kidney Grills, Fog Light Delete, M3 front bumper w/ lip, Sparco Hood Pins, Sparco Trunk Springs, NRG Carbon Fiber Shift Knob, Rokkor Coilovers, Magnaflow Muffler (11225) Whats Coming Next: NRG Steering wheel, Corbeau Forza Seats and Sliders (X2), NRG Race Style Steering Wheel with MOMO Hub, UUC Clutch Stop,, M3 Side Moldings, Manual Window regulators Last edited by pcalahane; 03-12-2010 at 09:29 PM. | | | 03-12-2010, 07:42 PM | #2 | That's not Millpoint Blue Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: BNA Posts: 3,161 | 1) It's not a "moon" roof, it's a "sun" roof. The difference is that a moon roof has a see-thru panel, and a sun roof has a metal panel. I don't mean to be picky about it, just trying to educate. :-D 2) A few people have either swapped the dash or attempted it, and a few people have painted various interior parts. A bit of searching would probably find their posts/threads. 3) Any advice would be dependant on your goals for the car. Is it a daily driver? Drivers A-pillar i want to put the guages so i need that modified pillar that mounts them, and thats about it except the doors. Basically from where the driver/passenger is forward kinda/sorta stock but behind them just a metal shell. looking to remove carpetting aswell. the reason for the "sun roof" being removed is because i like no interior better than cracked saggy old interior so when i remove the old headboard i'll have all those wires and mechanisms looking ugly. i'd rather just have a sheet of tinted glass.(thanks for clearifying btw, i knew there was the different names but blanked on which was which) __________________ -1996 318TI ACTIVE PACKAGE (ALPINE WEISS): 75-0MPH IN 3 ROLLS AND AN END TO END FLIP.Mods: Complete M3 Body Kit, Carbon Fiber Side Mirrors, Carbon Fiber GTR Hood, Carbon Fiber Hatch, Carbon Fiber Sunroof Panel, Blacked Out Ambers and Taillights, 17' TSW Nagaro Rims, European Front License Plate, Sripped Out Interior, NRG Deep Dish Steering Wheel with MOMO Hub, NRG Carbon Fiber Shift Ball, Pioneer Avic N2 Stereo (Navigation/Bluetooth/CD), Cosmo Racing Cold Air Intake, Passenger Airbag Delete, Rear Wiper Delete, Blacked Out Kidney Grills, Projector Fog Lights, manual windows -1996 318TI CALIFORNIA EDITION (SCHWARZ ZWEI): BACK IN BLACK!Current Mods: European Front License Plate, Rear Wiper Delete, Bosch Miata Battery, Blacked Out Ambers, 17" Contours (non-staggered), Kenwood Stereo (Bluetooth/USB/CD), City Lights, Corner Running Light Delete, Rear Taillight Mod (//M style brake light), Passport 9500xi Radar Detector (Hardwired), Laguna Seca Decal, Stripped Out Interior, Debaffled Airbox, Blacked Out Kidney Grills, Fog Light Delete, M3 front bumper w/ lip, Sparco Hood Pins, Sparco Trunk Springs, NRG Carbon Fiber Shift Knob, Rokkor Coilovers, Magnaflow Muffler (11225) Whats Coming Next: NRG Steering wheel, Corbeau Forza Seats and Sliders (X2), NRG Race Style Steering Wheel with MOMO Hub, UUC Clutch Stop,, M3 Side Moldings, Manual Window regulators | | | 03-12-2010, 09:35 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Auburn, WA Posts: 1,814 | u can get a cf panel for the sunroof __________________ 5/96 318TI Sport BIG TURBO | | | 03-12-2010, 09:55 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Santa Maria, CA Posts: 277 | Good call Jean. i was thinking about that or a lexan panel but then again... will it hold up to the pressure when the windows are down? i dont think so. that was the problem when i went to put lexan on my carbon hatch. it would have to be braced. SIDE NOTE: Jean i know you were intrested in the carbon when i brought it up... look at my pictures and you will see what the hood/ hatch looks like. There is an interesting clip that is disengaged by sliding the pillar down from what I remember. The slider that adjusts the seat belt may also get in the way but you can get it out. If you are removing permanently it doesn't hurt to yank it off...the seat belt mechanisms are the only portant parts The rear panels on the side walls by the rear window pop off and just have door panel clips holding them on. To take the headliner off you need to remove a b and c pillars. A pillars pop straight off. C pillars I beleive pop off after you remove the bolt that holds the seat belts up. They have little hooks that clip under the headliner. Other areas of interest are the clothes hanger hook and handle-pop a cover off in the corners and a Phillips screw needs to be removed. Also look around where interior lights are...pop them out. Basically...any thing in the headliner will probably have a screw that anchors the acessory. That's all I remember now but should give you a good start. As for carpets...you basically have to take everything out-seats, kick panels, the long plastic rails along the door, center console, etc...I've never done this before but I'm just thinking of things I've removed that I know cover the carpets. If you have any specific questions let me know __________________ 1995 318ti Active Pioneer Speakers [] Aluminum Billet door locks [] ACS Pedals/Deadrest [] ACS Shift Knob / E-Brake Handle [] Clear Corners/Tails/Sides [] Sylvania Exterior Lighting [] Custom CAI [] Dinan Engine Chip [] Dinan Transmission Chip [] H&R Race Springs [] Tokico Illumina Shocks [] BMW X-Brace [] Relocated Lighter Mod [] Custom iPod Mod http://www.cardomain.com/id/robcarync Last edited by robcarync; 03-14-2010 at 02:54 AM. | | | 03-14-2010, 04:23 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Santa Maria, CA Posts: 277 | Thanks Rob, thats exactly what i needed to hear :-D i was just afraid to pop those panels for fear i missed something and would end up breaking them. btw, has anyone already done this before? any track or rally cars want to post pics of what it will ultimately look like? __________________ -1996 318TI ACTIVE PACKAGE (ALPINE WEISS): 75-0MPH IN 3 ROLLS AND AN END TO END FLIP.Mods: Complete M3 Body Kit, Carbon Fiber Side Mirrors, Carbon Fiber GTR Hood, Carbon Fiber Hatch, Carbon Fiber Sunroof Panel, Blacked Out Ambers and Taillights, 17' TSW Nagaro Rims, European Front License Plate, Sripped Out Interior, NRG Deep Dish Steering Wheel with MOMO Hub, NRG Carbon Fiber Shift Ball, Pioneer Avic N2 Stereo (Navigation/Bluetooth/CD), Cosmo Racing Cold Air Intake, Passenger Airbag Delete, Rear Wiper Delete, Blacked Out Kidney Grills, Projector Fog Lights, manual windows -1996 318TI CALIFORNIA EDITION (SCHWARZ ZWEI): BACK IN BLACK!Current Mods: European Front License Plate, Rear Wiper Delete, Bosch Miata Battery, Blacked Out Ambers, 17" Contours (non-staggered), Kenwood Stereo (Bluetooth/USB/CD), City Lights, Corner Running Light Delete, Rear Taillight Mod (//M style brake light), Passport 9500xi Radar Detector (Hardwired), Laguna Seca Decal, Stripped Out Interior, Debaffled Airbox, Blacked Out Kidney Grills, Fog Light Delete, M3 front bumper w/ lip, Sparco Hood Pins, Sparco Trunk Springs, NRG Carbon Fiber Shift Knob, Rokkor Coilovers, Magnaflow Muffler (11225) Whats Coming Next: NRG Steering wheel, Corbeau Forza Seats and Sliders (X2), NRG Race Style Steering Wheel with MOMO Hub, UUC Clutch Stop,, M3 Side Moldings, Manual Window regulators | | | 03-14-2010, 04:35 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Santa Maria, CA Posts: 277 | Oh and rob, i was checking out your car and the mods you've done. Now i set up car audio on the side for some extra fun cash and i have some pointers. 1) Buy a compassitor, it will keep a constant flow to the amp giving it a crisper cleaner sound. Depending on the watts your amp is using of course determines the size. 2) Face your subs to the rear of your car not you and close the trunk up. Sound will almost double. 3) if you can afford it (or its not already) get a 4-channel amp. it will slap hard. And in case anyone is interested, this is what i have in my baby. who says bimmers dont slap? lol two 15" kicker comps, 4-channel 2000watt amp, 2000watt compassitor, and a fuse box located on battery cover. ;-) __________________ -1996 318TI ACTIVE PACKAGE (ALPINE WEISS): 75-0MPH IN 3 ROLLS AND AN END TO END FLIP.Mods: Complete M3 Body Kit, Carbon Fiber Side Mirrors, Carbon Fiber GTR Hood, Carbon Fiber Hatch, Carbon Fiber Sunroof Panel, Blacked Out Ambers and Taillights, 17' TSW Nagaro Rims, European Front License Plate, Sripped Out Interior, NRG Deep Dish Steering Wheel with MOMO Hub, NRG Carbon Fiber Shift Ball, Pioneer Avic N2 Stereo (Navigation/Bluetooth/CD), Cosmo Racing Cold Air Intake, Passenger Airbag Delete, Rear Wiper Delete, Blacked Out Kidney Grills, Projector Fog Lights, manual windows -1996 318TI CALIFORNIA EDITION (SCHWARZ ZWEI): BACK IN BLACK!Current Mods: European Front License Plate, Rear Wiper Delete, Bosch Miata Battery, Blacked Out Ambers, 17" Contours (non-staggered), Kenwood Stereo (Bluetooth/USB/CD), City Lights, Corner Running Light Delete, Rear Taillight Mod (//M style brake light), Passport 9500xi Radar Detector (Hardwired), Laguna Seca Decal, Stripped Out Interior, Debaffled Airbox, Blacked Out Kidney Grills, Fog Light Delete, M3 front bumper w/ lip, Sparco Hood Pins, Sparco Trunk Springs, NRG Carbon Fiber Shift Knob, Rokkor Coilovers, Magnaflow Muffler (11225) Whats Coming Next: NRG Steering wheel, Corbeau Forza Seats and Sliders (X2), NRG Race Style Steering Wheel with MOMO Hub, UUC Clutch Stop,, M3 Side Moldings, Manual Window regulators Last edited by pcalahane; 03-14-2010 at 04:38 PM. | | | 03-14-2010, 05:54 PM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: maritimes Posts: 1,433 | Quote: Originally Posted by roadrash 1) It's not a "moon" roof, it's a "sun" roof. Sun roof cause you get light through the glass, and moonroof would be because you couldnt see out, being like night hence "moon" roof. either way i dont have one and i like it that way... lol __________________ 11/97 Base 328Ti | | | 03-14-2010, 06:36 PM | #10 | That's not Millpoint Blue Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: BNA Posts: 3,161 | Quote: Originally Posted by Philly lol... i always thought it was the opposite. The best thing to do is look at what's attached. To get the headliner out, you have to remove it from the rear of the car through the hatch. As for the subs, I no longer have those in my car...they have been passed down to my little brother...but everyone always appreciates helpful hints! __________________ 1995 318ti Active Pioneer Speakers [] Aluminum Billet door locks [] ACS Pedals/Deadrest [] ACS Shift Knob / E-Brake Handle [] Clear Corners/Tails/Sides [] Sylvania Exterior Lighting [] Custom CAI [] Dinan Engine Chip [] Dinan Transmission Chip [] H&R Race Springs [] Tokico Illumina Shocks [] BMW X-Brace [] Relocated Lighter Mod [] Custom iPod Mod http://www.cardomain.com/id/robcarync | | | 03-16-2010, 04:29 PM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Santa Maria, CA Posts: 277 | cool stuff. yeah i knew the headliner wouldn't be difficult, the only problem is the wires for the sun roof and the mechinisms. i really really dont want them hanging down or looking like crap. so i want to do that last once i found something to put in there. so im assuming no one has pictures of a blank interior before the wires are relocated or of the sun roof uncovered? __________________ -1996 318TI ACTIVE PACKAGE (ALPINE WEISS): 75-0MPH IN 3 ROLLS AND AN END TO END FLIP.Mods: Complete M3 Body Kit, Carbon Fiber Side Mirrors, Carbon Fiber GTR Hood, Carbon Fiber Hatch, Carbon Fiber Sunroof Panel, Blacked Out Ambers and Taillights, 17' TSW Nagaro Rims, European Front License Plate, Sripped Out Interior, NRG Deep Dish Steering Wheel with MOMO Hub, NRG Carbon Fiber Shift Ball, Pioneer Avic N2 Stereo (Navigation/Bluetooth/CD), Cosmo Racing Cold Air Intake, Passenger Airbag Delete, Rear Wiper Delete, Blacked Out Kidney Grills, Projector Fog Lights, manual windows -1996 318TI CALIFORNIA EDITION (SCHWARZ ZWEI): BACK IN BLACK!Current Mods: European Front License Plate, Rear Wiper Delete, Bosch Miata Battery, Blacked Out Ambers, 17" Contours (non-staggered), Kenwood Stereo (Bluetooth/USB/CD), City Lights, Corner Running Light Delete, Rear Taillight Mod (//M style brake light), Passport 9500xi Radar Detector (Hardwired), Laguna Seca Decal, Stripped Out Interior, Debaffled Airbox, Blacked Out Kidney Grills, Fog Light Delete, M3 front bumper w/ lip, Sparco Hood Pins, Sparco Trunk Springs, NRG Carbon Fiber Shift Knob, Rokkor Coilovers, Magnaflow Muffler (11225) Whats Coming Next: NRG Steering wheel, Corbeau Forza Seats and Sliders (X2), NRG Race Style Steering Wheel with MOMO Hub, UUC Clutch Stop,, M3 Side Moldings, Manual Window regulators | | | 03-25-2010, 04:25 PM | #13 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2008 Location: Miami Posts: 244 | wtb glove box...how much if u sell it shipped to 11385 | | | 07-12-2010, 07:03 PM | #14 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Santa Maria, CA Posts: 277 | So after must debate i have decided not to sell my car so it looks like the removal is back on.
