So today I swapped it out for a used open diff. The bad news is the quiet humming has been replaced by a loud grinding. I'm pretty sure the input bearing is no good. Tomorrow I get to put the original back in...yay. | | | 03-23-2015, 11:50 AM | #32 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: SW Florida Posts: 4,275 | Changed the warn out water pump on Zippy. It has been a headache for the past month. The car has a completely new cooling system now. __________________ Sean 1995 Active | | | 03-24-2015, 08:45 PM | #33 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2009 Location: SF bay Posts: 183 | Break my breaker bar on the bottom bolts on the front shock. Augh, those are so bolts are so damn tight. So... I have lose bolts now and no breaker bar. | | | 03-25-2015, 02:34 AM | #34 | Junior Member Join Date: Feb 2015 Location: GA Posts: 17 | Soldered a broken mirror adjustment cable back on the pin socket and fixed a sticky backseat latch. That rubber coating works great until it splits somewhere and gets jammed into the action to muck everything up | | | 03-26-2015, 05:01 AM | #35 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2008 Location: Los Angeles, CA Posts: 1,464 | Quote: Originally Posted by BlackBMWs Jerry, didja notice any difference? I'm thinking that was the difference I felt. __________________ 1995 318ti Base - Cosmosschwarz/Sandgrau R.I.P. 1997 318ti Active - Alpinweiß III/Sandgrau 2013 328i Coupe - Le Mans Blau | | | 03-26-2015, 05:38 AM | #36 | Member Join Date: Jan 2015 Location: New Hampshire, USA Posts: 73 | Chased a vacuum leak causing a rough idle and an outrageously annoying howling noise. Turned out to be both the ICV and PCV. Westfield for now, in about a month moving to Granville Mass which is about 1 town over but QUIET. Nice rough cut barn, place we are purchasing has a nice post and beam rough cut on the property that will become my workshop. | | | 04-05-2015, 03:29 AM | #44 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2012 Location: Sacramento, CA Posts: 2,451 | Yesterday's project: Suspension upgrade for the Cali I'll likely raise the front of the Cali 1/2" from a practicality standpoint as it's my DD. The TI on the left has the Coilovers, the TI on the right has Billy Sports with HR Super Sports. I have the valve dampening adjustment at the midpoint. Firm, but not spine jolting. I'll need to read up on adjusting the camber plates. I'll see how it rides after I get over this stomach flu or whatever it is. I suspect I'd make myself puke driving like I stole it... Next project is a M3 brake booster and Master Cylinder in prep for 330CI front brakes. __________________ 1998 318ti Sport - "Cali" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior, Cali top 1998 318ti Sport - "Max" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior, S52 1997 318ti Sport - "Tiny" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior 1995 318ti Active - "Blanca" Alpineweib III/Schwartz leather interior Other Current Bimmers: 2006 530i / 2000 2.3L Z3 / 1997 1.9L Z3 / 1999 540it 1997 318ti Sport - "Huera" - RIP 1995 318ti Active - RIP 1995 318ti Sport - "Tiny" Sold 1994 325i Sedan - "Jade" - Sold 1991 318ic - "Bert" - Sold 1985 635csi sold 1984 533i "Max" Sold 1984 318i sold BMWCCA #160411 SUPPORT 318ti.org! For the previous half hour of driving I could tell something was about to happen. Glad it was just the tire that went. First time I laid eyes on my spare, not good. Looked to be the original and was cracking. Limped it to a gas station, aired it up and made it 40 miles home. Looks like I'm tire shopping. It had Yokohama YK580's on it, not recommended. | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
