Default Trunk false floor and fiberglass sub enclosure pics

I have more, I'll have to find them and I'll add to the thread. Built this over winter break. False floor is 3.5", plenty of room to house my amp, a tool kit, and whatever other junk. It's nice to not have any crap like that loose on the floor of the trunk.

Opinions? There's a wood cover that fits nice and tight over the spare tire access hole FYI.

It looks nice and clean. It gets annoying when my speakers bob a little when I take a hard turn.

Very clean install. I was thinking about doing the same thing but using the tool compartment with a 3" riser for my sub enclosure. This way you won't even see the sub or any stereo equipment at all. Looks great!

Thanks. Your speakers bob a little, as in the sub box moves?

Thanks Jess. I thought about doing that for the sub enclosure, but I'm probably one of the few people on the site who actually still has his spare+tools(some anyway). I drive too much to not have it, and typically have too much stuff in the trunk to keep a fullsize spare. The only downside to where it's mounted, is that if I need to replace a bulb, the whole false floor has to come out before I can move the sub enough. The upside is the enclosure isn't going anywhere.

Thanks pauly. Thought about doing one on each side, but besides the fact they'd be different volumes (results in muddy/sloppy bass), and the fact it was a complete PITA because I had the wrong 'glass mat, IMO there's no need for two subs.

I've had the super-loud bass setups, and I actually enjoy the current stereo the most. I had a 1200 watt setup in the car prior(two 10" type R's, cheaper Hifonics 1500 watt amp that pushed 1k-1200 max realistically). It shook everything loose in the car, and wasn't worth the loss in space. This is perfect IMO, and I can just add some more power if I feel necessary. Got everything sitting in my room if I get the urge.

Since Marv asked in PM, I'll address the question here as well. I have debated making a run of these enclosures to sell to you guys on here. I'd need to know who would be interested, and an approximate price of what you'd be willing to pay. I would have to go out and front the cost for the mat, resin, mdf, brushes, cups, tape, and a crap-ton of clay to make a mold; on top of my time and tear my car apart again. As you can see, it's not very advantageous for me to make them at this time: but, if you guys name the right price, I may be persuaded come April I could make them for a 8" 10" or 12", not enough space for anything bigger

On another not, I'm happy to give tips to anyone who needs them and wants to try themselves. fiberglassforums.com taught me everything I needed to know if you want to look into it.

That's pretty neat. How sturdy is the trunk floor?

I may have a picture, I"ll have to look. It's fully conformed to the trunk, plastic storage area. In my case instead of using a screw or something to keep it from leaning like / towards the trunk, I just used a piece of automotive double sided tape to the taillight cover, combined with the false floor. This keeps it in place. For you guys, I'd suggest a single screw/bolt to behind the box, the double sided tape like I did, or velcro.

1/2" plywood. I'm 185 and can sit on it with no fears of it breaking. Plenty strong IMO.

The custom install looks good. Any more pics of the custom sub box? Front and back?

Nope, it's a full ''box''. The back is molded to the contours of the carpet. I'll look for a not-installed pic and post it.

Awesome job on the sub! I'd love to try that on my car. I have hesitated putting a sub on the back of mine cause I hate to have a bulky box in the trunk!
