In our chapter each class has stock and mod. SCCA have many classes also. If you just want to do it for fun, that's a different story. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 12-24-2003, 07:46 AM | #3 | Member Join Date: Dec 2003 Location: NC Posts: 36 | yeah, i thought about that also...most of the autoxing i'd do would be for fun though. is 4:10 too high? __________________ Trevor '88 Four-Eyed 'Fridge - '89 325is - '91 318is - '90 325is | | | 12-24-2003, 01:22 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | I know there is a chart somewhere that shows how your speed changes with RPMs using various diffs. I have a 3.46 Quaife in my 328ti.. The engine is revving pretty high in 5th on the highway. t's not that annoying but I wish I had a 6-speed. At the track I'm guessing I'm hitting the rev limiter at 85-90 in 3rd and 110-115 in 4th. I'm sure someone will chime in. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 12-25-2003, 03:20 AM | #5 | Member Join Date: Dec 2003 Location: NC Posts: 36 | yeah, this sounds great...unfortunately i'll be down 2 cylinders, atleast for a while __________________ Trevor '88 Four-Eyed 'Fridge - '89 325is - '91 318is - '90 325is | | | 01-29-2004, 04:41 AM | #6 | Junior Member Join Date: Jan 2004 Location: Charleston, S.C. Posts: 24 | Hey, steve, did you install the Quaife into your stock small case diff., or are you running an Mcoupe/Mroadster subframe w/ the quaife? If the latter, where did you go about picking that rear subframe? Thanks. | | | 01-29-2004, 05:50 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Quaife no longer make a small diff although it is in their catalog. I'm using the medium diff for 6-cylinders. The subframe is the same in my case. Only changes were the halfshafts. I do have the MCoupe cooling cover though. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 01-29-2004, 12:33 PM | #8 | Junior Member Join Date: Jan 2004 Location: Charleston, S.C. Posts: 24 | What tranny are you running, and I am guessing that you had to change out the output flanges on the diff. ? I heard the the quaife holds up to some hard abuse, how is your experience with it? Thanks. | | | 02-14-2004, 08:20 PM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2004 Location: Fort Worth, TX Posts: 234 | __________________ | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
