Putting a relay in was my first thought, particularly since one came with the kit. Ironic as I am tapping into a switched power source that is feeding a high load relay. I'll test it out this week by powering up the defroster and see if the total draw pops the 30 amp fuse. If so, I'll use the same wire I installed to trigger a relay powered off one of the 12V distribution points to drop the load on the fused circuit.

BMW would have likely used a relay I'd wager. I suppose I could see how the new angel eyes on the newer models are wired in the ETM for a newer model.

Probably to dedicated parking light outputs of the LCM. In Europe, the turn signals only signal turns and the angel eyes serve as the front parking/running lights.
