But is it possible that hitting a pot hole could cause my air conditioning to stop working. I feel like now the compressor doesnt even turn on, cause I dont even feel the interval in the rpm's anymore. But could hitting a pothole really cause the compressor to stop working?? | | | 04-26-2007, 09:59 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2004 Location: Florida Posts: 1,595 | I don't think a pothole could cause that, but do you feel a some air come out or nothing at all? | | | 04-26-2007, 10:04 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2006 Location: Chicago Posts: 102 | it still blows fine, it is just like turning the fan on, the air isnt cold at all | | | 04-26-2007, 10:05 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2004 Location: Florida Posts: 1,595 | Maybe you just need a Freon refill? Discount Auto Parts has it. | | | 04-26-2007, 10:11 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2006 Location: Chicago Posts: 102 | do you know the part number for that? | | | 04-26-2007, 10:17 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2004 Location: Florida Posts: 1,595 | It's not a part to replace. Just go to discount auto parts/autozone and tell them your A/C isn't blowing cold air and you think you need Freon for it. It is in a can and you just connect it to you A/C hose and fill it up. If your unsure how to use it ask them and they will explain better or show you in person. | | | 04-26-2007, 10:18 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2006 Location: Chicago Posts: 102 | i know its not a part, im wondering what kind of freon to get...thats what i meant | | | 04-26-2007, 10:22 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2004 Location: Florida Posts: 1,595 | Quote: Originally Posted by 3184ever i know its not a part, im wondering what kind of freon to get...thats what i meant | Oh, I don't think it matters if there is more than 1 kind for the A/C. Discount should know. | | | 04-26-2007, 11:03 PM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2006 Location: Chicago Posts: 102 | Im thinking it has something to do with my pressure switch, cause when i hooked the freon can into it, the pressure showed like dangerous levels. If that tells me anything, its not that theres not enough freon in there. If the pressure is THAT high, something is wrong... Pressure switch is my guess. Any ideas? | | | 04-26-2007, 11:29 PM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Lincoln Park Capitol Hill, Washington DC Posts: 741 | Quote: Originally Posted by Viper3812 Oh, I don't think it matters if there is more than 1 kind for the A/C. Yes it does matter if you fill it up with R12 freon or R138/A, etc. Double check to make sure you get the correct freon. __________________ It's always a great day to be underwater and play with the fish.....preserve our oceans and reefs" Fariz 1997 318ti, Hellrot (Bright Red), Dinan Stage 2 Chip 16x7 OEM sport Wheels/X-Brace/Custom Strut Brace/Cold Air Intake/M-Tec Steering Wheel/Koni Adjustable FrontShocks/ Bilstein Sport Rear Shocks /H&R Sport Springs/Custom fabricated strut tower brace/Rear Strut brace, Stromung Exhaust Future Mods: E46 17" wheels or Kosei K-1 17x8.5s | | | 07-30-2010, 04:28 AM | #11 | Junior Member Join Date: Apr 2009 Location: Battle Ground, WA Posts: 27 | R12 fill kit will not fit on a 134 system. 134 kit comes with adapters but the system must be evacuated first. | | | 07-30-2010, 02:16 PM | #12 | Moderator Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Bouncing off the rev limiter in CT! Posts: 3,156 | R134A is the correct material to use. As to the pressure, you need to check high AND low sides to be sure they are in spec. I just posted the allowable pressure ranges in another post for someone else a couple days ago. You may also have jareed the compressor wire loose?? Did you check that already? Basically the pressure casnnot be too high OR too low for it to operate. I am guessing (if not the wire) you were low on freon, and the bump cause the switch to trip from the 'cusp' where it was. Get to a good garage, have it evacuated and recharged and it should not only work, but work A LOT better than before. | | | 07-16-2020, 02:28 PM | #13 | Junior Member Join Date: Jul 2020 Location: California Posts: 1 | ac problem fixed I had this same problem.
