I have looked at all fuses under bonnet and all seam ok, i have tryed a new dash unit and still no gauges work is there a hidden one? | | | 01-19-2015, 01:05 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: SW Florida Posts: 4,275 | Even tho you have checked all fuses under the bonnet, try changing out fuse 46. It might be the culprit. If you changed out any bulbs in your tail lights recently...that may be the cause. Using the wrong bulbs has been known to effect the instrument cluster as well as other lights on the outside of our cars. So, give fuse 46 a second look. __________________ Sean 1995 Active | | | 01-19-2015, 01:11 PM | #3 | Junior Member Join Date: Jan 2015 Location: uk Posts: 11 | Ok will give it a go. Didn't know if the black box under glove box had anything to do with it. | | | 01-19-2015, 08:01 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: SW Florida Posts: 4,275 | I'm not sure that any of your "boxes" under the glovebox/dash will cause this type of issue. I could be wrong tho. I had my instrument cluster go haywire on me recently...the car would not start. The instrument cluster is a connection point between the EWS and DME/ECU. When the instrument cluster took a crap...the whole system shut down. Your issue is different. All I recall reading about is fuse 46. That and the tail lights (as crazy as that sounds). __________________ Sean 1995 Active | | | 01-19-2015, 08:13 PM | #5 | Junior Member Join Date: Jan 2015 Location: uk Posts: 11 | Cheers mate will try and let you know. I have the RealOEM page set for my 1995 318ti. It may be different for other years. Go to the RealOEM home page, plug in your VIN# and it will tell you everything that came equipped on your car. Then you can brows the parts and determine what you're looking for. __________________ Sean 1995 Active | | | 01-27-2015, 06:54 PM | #11 | Junior Member Join Date: Jan 2015 Location: uk Posts: 11 | Ok cheers for the info, car nearly ready for the track just a couple of items to sort then I can see if all the hassle has been worth it. | | | 01-30-2015, 07:07 PM | #12 | Junior Member Join Date: Jan 2015 Location: uk Posts: 11 | Think I may have found what's wrong because I've put a e46 engine in, i had to make a loom from the x20 plug to the new engine ecu and I don't think the dash has a good earth so will be checking all connections and giving it a new earth over the weekend. .will let you know how it goes | | | 01-31-2015, 01:25 PM | #13 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: SW Florida Posts: 4,275 | Ah, that makes sense. I had assumed it was a 1.9 M44 motor. __________________ Sean 1995 Active | | | 01-31-2015, 01:33 PM | #14 | Junior Member Join Date: Jan 2015 Location: uk Posts: 11 | Hi I put a 2.8 m52 tu dual vanos engine in but didn't think it would mess around with the dash. | | | 02-10-2015, 06:01 PM | #15 | Junior Member Join Date: Jan 2015 Location: uk Posts: 11 | Put a new dash in and it all works | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
