This might help: 1. Take off the bottom plastic cover under the steering wheel (1 clip/screw). 2. Remove the plastic connector(electrical mechanism) from the back of the ignition cylinder(2 very tiny screws) 3. Take some small pliers and turn/push the "turning pin"(the piece that goes inside the plastic part), you should be able to get it unstuck this way. I came back to work and pulled on the key and it came out. Here is what my common sense says, " the key is hard plastic, the head is small and the edges are rough, so its hard for the key to slide out easily." Good lesson though !!!! __________________ ***SOLD***The Ultimate Dying Machine!!! If it was the plastic key like mine then I guess you could have pulled it out. The $tealer foreman did tell me that if the key broke in then I will have to replace the Ignition lock which takes 1 week to order. __________________ ***SOLD***The Ultimate Dying Machine!!! Cost me $600. | | | 02-11-2005, 03:35 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: Colyumbia S.C. Posts: 101 | I can get the lock assembly and lock cylinder that is matched to the car in three days. we have ordered over ten in the last year. they tell you it takes a week and thet it comes from Germany and BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH. it comes from the BMW USA main headquarters in New Jersey. Next time tell your BMW dealer to order it "VOR" (Vehicle Off Road) and it will get there in 1-3 days instead of 5-7. They will probably give you a dumb look and wonder how you know what VOR is. Very few parts actually come direct from Germany. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
