Default re-upholstering

I have been wanting to re-upholster my car since i got it but I was too busy working the exterior. What I want to know is if anyone has had their interior upholstered and if so how much did you pay. I'm looking to do the entire car in black leather with a suede center on the seats. Has anybody priced this at all? The shop says the will charge $1,600.00. Does that sound fair?

Checking the leather option on a new car is around that.

Just make sure you know what kind of leather you're getting, and what constitutes the "entire car."

Black & suede sounds pretty awesome.

ok. so, today i dropped off the panels and seats to get covered in leather and the guy tells me that the door panels might be too difficult because they are not factory leathered. Does anybody know if the door panels were made in grey leather? I have to know so I can go to BMW and get some if they did make them.

They made door cards & rear panels with leather inserts only, the whole panel was never covered in leather from the factory.

I am just curios as how hard is it to change the inserts on the panels from cloth to leather compared to a normal e36 considering that ours is a one piece panel and the insert doesn't come off by itself(form what I know).

GDB on bf.c and i think he's a member here did the fron/rear panels on his ti. From what he told me they just popped right out with a little heat. I will be doing this interior mod to my ti in the spring.

what I did is that I made some inserts made out of fiberglass that perfectly fit over the insert on the door panel. I attached them to the door from the inside so you cant see any screws. I wrapped them in perfprated leather and now the look like the came from the factory. I'll post some pics tonight. I also finished the interior so I can post some pics of the whole interior.
