You will loose low end torque though, and it wont feel as "smooth" as it did before, but engine response will be improved slightly __________________ Vin Number decode and Retrofit Pdfs Available Free ! Especially if your only budgeting $500 for a flywheel and clutch kit. Just wanted to point out, to get a good kit, you'll probably have to venture into 6cyl terrority, it'll cost roughly the same as a 4cyl setup, and you'll have better clamping power... I guess thats a bad thing. And if all your looking for is a few pounds lighter, why bother? The difference will be negliable at best. __________________ 11/97 Base 328Ti | | | 10-12-2008, 07:53 PM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2006 Location: Land of the Vikings Posts: 2,700 | if its a m50 swap then itll be a good idea to use the flywheel from that engine no? then just get that machined __________________ Vin Number decode and Retrofit Pdfs Available Free ! The //M3 clutch is much larger than the stocker. The overall diameter of the flywheel is the same so it fits inside the stock 5-speed. If your not introducing new horsepower, there is really no need to upgrade unless you're reducing the weight. LEFT = //M RIGHT = stock __________________ SOLD!!! 1999 332ti //M Sport Titanium Silver M3 S52 3.2 I-6 Engine, M3 Clutch w/ ti Getrag Trans, Z3 3.15 LSD medium case diff and half shafts, OEM Hatch Spoiler, Eurosport HP Underdrive Pulleys, FDM, 17" DS1 rims, M3 Front Struts & Springs, M3 Instrument Cluster, 3-spoke //M steering wheel with tri-color stitching, SSK, CCFL Angels in Depo projectors with 5k HIDs | | | 10-14-2008, 06:22 PM | #14 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: 43609 Posts: 3,425 | +1 you can not mix and match clutches and flywheels. If you want a m50 flywheel you need an m50 clutch, if you want a m3 clutch you need an m3 flywheel. __________________ 1995 Hellrot Clubsport 318ti -Gone 1996 Schwartz II Sport 357ti - 5.7L V8 LS1/6 1997 Moregrun Metallic 318ti - Gone 1998 Schwartz II sport 318ti - M50TUB25/5 | | | 10-14-2008, 07:28 PM | #15 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2006 Location: Golden, CO Posts: 283 | I figured thats how it works but wasnt sure... thanks for the help __________________ e46 325 brake upgrade, Dinan engine chip, UUC SS brake lines, UCC rotors, m68 17in wheels, Conti extreme contacts, Billstein sport shocks, H&R springs, M3 shock mounts, B&B triflow exhaust, K&N cone filter, Magnecor 8.5 wires, Meyle control arms with caster , Hawk ceramic pads, Understeer M3 SSK, UUC SS clutch line, 320 trans mounts. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
