Default m50 clutch/flywheel

I am in the process of a m50 swap and am looking to upgrade my clutch and flywheel but don't know what to get. I am on a budget and looking to spend less then 500 bucks, and recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
-thanks

you could get a lightened standard flywheel,

and a sachs sport clutch if you think you need it.

get a machine shop to "trim" it out for you.

they do this normally if the flywheel is warped because of abuse, but in principle you could have it taken in a lot more on the back to remove unneeded weight.

You will loose low end torque though, and it wont feel as "smooth" as it did before, but engine response will be improved slightly

for starters, you won't find a LTW flywheel and clutch for under $500 dude, especially if you have to pay someone to put it in.

and you probably won't find a 318 one anyways, you'll probably have to upgrade into 6cyl/m3 territory to get a quality LTW flywheel...

I'm not looking for a 9lb LTW flywheel. just something lighter then stock. plus I dont need a heavy duty clutch, and i'm going to put it in myself.

I didn't imply you were looking for any certain weight, you just said you wanted a LTW flywheel and didn't know where to look, and I told you the chances of finding a 4cyl specific ltw flywheel are slim. Especially if your only budgeting $500 for a flywheel and clutch kit.

Just wanted to point out, to get a good kit, you'll probably have to venture into 6cyl terrority, it'll cost roughly the same as a 4cyl setup, and you'll have better clamping power... I guess thats a bad thing.

And if all your looking for is a few pounds lighter, why bother? The difference will be negliable at best.

the engine i bought didn't come with one... so tracking down one that's in decent shape is hard.

^ Negative.

The //M3 clutch is much larger than the stocker. The overall diameter of the flywheel is the same so it fits inside the stock 5-speed.

If your not introducing new horsepower, there is really no need to upgrade unless you're reducing the weight.

LEFT = //M RIGHT = stock

+1 you can not mix and match clutches and flywheels. If you want a m50 flywheel you need an m50 clutch, if you want a m3 clutch you need an m3 flywheel.
