Did anyone else notice their car running warmer after a dasc install? I have a high powered electric fan and the car stayed cool just fine before the install. Now if I am driving through the city at low speed (20mph or less) the car gets between the middle and 3/4 mark. There are only a couple thousand miles on the t-stat and water pump. I am wondering if the radiator hose has something to do with it? My car is an e30 so I think the hose sits a lot higher than normal, and is also bent at a more severe angle, but I checked it and the angle should not be restricting flow. Any Ideas? | | | 07-30-2010, 01:24 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2004 Location: Sydney, Australia Posts: 593 | Maybe the electric fan is not working? | | | 07-30-2010, 03:59 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2008 Location: Leeds, England Posts: 133 | Nope mate, no hotter for me. I would be careful driving it because it sounds like you have a fault with your cooling system somewhere. The hose shouldnt make any difference, unless you have big air bubbles in it, give it a squeeze! Do you have a coolant leak? It took me ages to work out how to get that big hose to seal correctly onto the t stat. __________________ Supercharged 318Ti | | | 07-30-2010, 05:54 PM | #4 | Member Join Date: May 2009 Location: Essex, UK Posts: 42 | Mine ran hot after install and even hotter with the pulley changed. I have fitted a new rad, waterpump, elec cooling fan with viscous delete and removed the thermostat. It now runs perfect __________________ Z3 1.9 M44 supercharged | | | 07-30-2010, 06:01 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2010 Location: Tulsa, OK Posts: 252 | maybe install a lower temp. fan switch and see if that helps it, i believe bavauto sells on that a few degrees cooler than stock __________________ 1996 318ti base: m44, 5 spd, lsd - 18x8 bremmer kraft wheels w/sumitumo tires 225/40R18 & bmw locking lug studs, 10mm spacers in rear, halo headlights, cold air intake, koni str.t struts and shocks w/mounts, h&r sport springs, serp belts, control arm & tie rod kits, front sway bar links, JVC kd-x50bt headunit w/ipod hook up in the glove box, alpine sps-500(front and rear), jl audio 10" powerwedge max, jl audio 250.1 amp, motor mounts, fuel filter, passenger side window motor, drivers lower window run, muffler hanger kit, various interior bulbs, left door striker/ajar switch, lower hood latches, changed from gray vinal to black leather shift and parking brake boots, m3 weighted shift knob, ngk-r spark plugs, magnecor spark plug wires(blue),new cabin micro-filters,new headliner & a-pillar mouldings, 5w20 synth-blend oil and filter, BG Ultra Guard syn. rear end fluid & ls additive, BG Syncro Shift II syn. manual trans fluids, stainless steel braided brake lines and dot 4 fluid, extra brake light mod, new p/s reservoir and rubber hoses need to do - fix door panels, paint job, MORE MONEY!! | | | 07-30-2010, 06:57 PM | #6 | Member Join Date: Jul 2006 Location: oregon Posts: 83 | the electric fan is working and I do have the lower temp fan switch.
