Default E46 Seats will they fit in the TI?

Like the title says, will E46 Sport seats fit in a TI?

Local yard has a pair of black leather ones (THey are power version but I plan of working that out if it is a close fit....

Thanks!
Dave

Dave;

They should fit almost perfectly. I did some checking into this awhile back, and heard that they either bolted right in or that some very minor drilling (enlarging) of two of the mounting holes was needed.

Really only need a constant 12V power supply and a ground for seat power (not including dealing with heating elements), and the seat belt receptacles should be swappable if the plugs are different from the e36.

If you pick them up, post up your experience!

Maybe you could take some measurements of the brackets of your seats and compared them to the e-46 seats?

I posted a link to a bf.c thread where someone installed e46 seats in an e36. IIRC, they did have to enlarge the holes, but otherwise the studs were in the same locations. Power seat motors have a lot of torque, so you'll probably want to use heavier guage wire than say interior lamp or stereo wire. Also, I'd imagine they draw a lot of amperage, so you'll want to find out the correct amp fuse BMW used and go from there. I'll look for the link and post back in a few.

Edit; you'll need to drill new holes in the seat rails and cut a small section out of the "H" beam. Also worth noting, you should use seats out of a coupe as sedan seats don't tilt forward to allow access for rear passengers.

Ok, apparently I was thinking of Z3 seats. E46 seats will work, but require a little more modification. The guy explains it in post # 18 of this thread: http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum....php?t=1799449

Hmm. I need to get back there.. I need to make sure they are coupe seats.
