Is there any solution other than replacing it? __________________ --------------------------------------------- 1998 318TI M SPORT MODS: DEPO FOG LIGHTS|DEPO XENON ANGEL EYE|REAR SPOLIER|WEATHER TECH WINDOW DEFLECTORS|REAR BILSTEIN SHOCKS|RIKEN RAPTOR 205/55ZR16'S|COSMO RACING COLD AIR INTAKE|GABRIEL ULTRA FRONT STRUTS| REPAIRS: RACK & PINION|AC COMPRESSOR|FRONT ROTORS & BRAKE PADS|02 SENSORS|CAT CONVERTER|MAF|TIE ROD ENDS|IAC VALVE| | | | 03-13-2009, 01:23 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2008 Location: Raleigh/Charlotte, NC Posts: 1,233 | it can, but not very likely. To clean it get some "MAF Cleaner" from the auto parts store, or electronic contact cleaner from radio shack. Spray inside the MAF onto the elements. Do NOT disassemble the unit. Also check for leaks in your intake boot, and also clean your idle air control valve. __________________ -Jeff | | | 03-18-2009, 07:00 PM | #3 | Member Join Date: Jul 2006 Location: Atl, GA Posts: 44 | ok, I did this last night. It definetly helped, but I'm still getting some bucking when I get up into higher speeds and only on the acceleration. This meter (Bosch made) is less than a year old. Do they usually go bad so quickly? I did see some tears in the boot, but no holes. __________________ --------------------------------------------- 1998 318TI M SPORT MODS: DEPO FOG LIGHTS|DEPO XENON ANGEL EYE|REAR SPOLIER|WEATHER TECH WINDOW DEFLECTORS|REAR BILSTEIN SHOCKS|RIKEN RAPTOR 205/55ZR16'S|COSMO RACING COLD AIR INTAKE|GABRIEL ULTRA FRONT STRUTS| REPAIRS: RACK & PINION|AC COMPRESSOR|FRONT ROTORS & BRAKE PADS|02 SENSORS|CAT CONVERTER|MAF|TIE ROD ENDS|IAC VALVE| | | | 03-18-2009, 07:20 PM | #4 | Member Join Date: Feb 2009 Location: Beebe, Arkansas Posts: 52 | Leave it on and unplug it run the car see what happens it should goto a default setting but idle will be all over place. __________________ And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. That is 100% part of the problem. After that, you may want to look at a O2 issue. __________________ SOLD!!! 1999 332ti //M Sport Titanium Silver M3 S52 3.2 I-6 Engine, M3 Clutch w/ ti Getrag Trans, Z3 3.15 LSD medium case diff and half shafts, OEM Hatch Spoiler, Eurosport HP Underdrive Pulleys, FDM, 17" DS1 rims, M3 Front Struts & Springs, M3 Instrument Cluster, 3-spoke //M steering wheel with tri-color stitching, SSK, CCFL Angels in Depo projectors with 5k HIDs | | | 03-21-2009, 07:01 AM | #6 | Member Join Date: Jul 2006 Location: Atl, GA Posts: 44 | Quote: Originally Posted by Xenocide it can, but not very likely. Thanks for the advice guys! Now, I noticed some crackling from under the car. I'm thinking my cat converter is on it's way out. Oh well. Thanks again! __________________ --------------------------------------------- 1998 318TI M SPORT MODS: DEPO FOG LIGHTS|DEPO XENON ANGEL EYE|REAR SPOLIER|WEATHER TECH WINDOW DEFLECTORS|REAR BILSTEIN SHOCKS|RIKEN RAPTOR 205/55ZR16'S|COSMO RACING COLD AIR INTAKE|GABRIEL ULTRA FRONT STRUTS| REPAIRS: RACK & PINION|AC COMPRESSOR|FRONT ROTORS & BRAKE PADS|02 SENSORS|CAT CONVERTER|MAF|TIE ROD ENDS|IAC VALVE| | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
