I think it is something related to the air conditioning system because I have tried going without the AC on and I have not had that problem again. What could it be? The air conditionier cools well though, I have not had problems with that... yet... EZ thing to check. __________________ My Former Rides 1999 318ti Alpine White, Cali Roof, Dinan goodies 1996 318ti Hellrot California Edition | | | 06-27-2005, 05:25 PM | #5 | Member Join Date: Jun 2005 Location: Vineland, NJ Posts: 47 | Quote: Originally Posted by cali-ti does the sound/vibration occur once you've come to a complete stop? do you feel the vibration in your foot when you're braking? | Yes... Whenever I have to stop at a red light, it happens and of course it only happens when I have my AC on. I can say that I can feel some vibration on my foot, yeah but also it's like it is coming from the front of the car (where the engine is). | | | 06-27-2005, 05:26 PM | #6 | Member Join Date: Jun 2005 Location: Vineland, NJ Posts: 47 | Quote: Originally Posted by 96cali Could just be slightly low on coolant causing the compressor to cycle on/off. At the time it was fixed under warranty. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 06-28-2005, 03:28 AM | #9 | aka Stabby Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Mead, CO Posts: 5,336 | odd ... what did they replace? __________________ 1996 318ti, California package, 267k miles current mods: bilstein sports, bavauto springs, e30 m3 LCABs, solid metal ball joints, bavauto RSMs w/reinforcements, e30 3.73 LSD & halfshafts, supersprint cat-back exhaust, turner rear sway bar reinforcements, IE poly subframe & RTABs + camber/toe kits, powdercoated e36 32x front calipers, sport mirrors, H&R 28mmF/19mmR sway bars, x-brace, auto solutions SSK w/poly bushing upgrade, BMW CD43 head unit, DICE HD Radio w/iPod integration and "stealth" HD antenna, staggered style 68s, orange electronic TPMS, leather arm rest, JT Designs metal undertray acquired and awaiting install: heated seat kit, cali top switch relo, lumbar support kit, park distance control kit, heated washer nozzle kit, m-coupe rear subframe, trailing arms, differential, and halfshafts, m-coupe front/rear brakes with master cylinder, under hood light kit, mud flaps, rear sun blind, auto-dimming rear view mirror, tilt steering wheel retrofit, apexcone 5000K HIDs with 55W ballasts 2002 X5 4.4 Sport Package, 53.5k miles Current Mods: e46 m3 steering wheel | | | 06-28-2005, 04:21 AM | #10 | Member Join Date: Jun 2005 Location: Vineland, NJ Posts: 47 | Quote: Originally Posted by cali-ti odd ... what did they replace? | what do you mean? | | | 06-28-2005, 04:23 AM | #11 | aka Stabby Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Mead, CO Posts: 5,336 | Quote: Originally Posted by denissef what do you mean? | sorry, that question was for steven sounds like he had a similar problem that was fixed under warranty and i'm wondering what part they replaced to fix it (as it might be the same problem part on yours). __________________ 1996 318ti, California package, 267k miles current mods: bilstein sports, bavauto springs, e30 m3 LCABs, solid metal ball joints, bavauto RSMs w/reinforcements, e30 3.73 LSD & halfshafts, supersprint cat-back exhaust, turner rear sway bar reinforcements, IE poly subframe & RTABs + camber/toe kits, powdercoated e36 32x front calipers, sport mirrors, H&R 28mmF/19mmR sway bars, x-brace, auto solutions SSK w/poly bushing upgrade, BMW CD43 head unit, DICE HD Radio w/iPod integration and "stealth" HD antenna, staggered style 68s, orange electronic TPMS, leather arm rest, JT Designs metal undertray acquired and awaiting install: heated seat kit, cali top switch relo, lumbar support kit, park distance control kit, heated washer nozzle kit, m-coupe rear subframe, trailing arms, differential, and halfshafts, m-coupe front/rear brakes with master cylinder, under hood light kit, mud flaps, rear sun blind, auto-dimming rear view mirror, tilt steering wheel retrofit, apexcone 5000K HIDs with 55W ballasts 2002 X5 4.4 Sport Package, 53.5k miles Current Mods: e46 m3 steering wheel | | | 06-28-2005, 04:28 AM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Quote: Originally Posted by cali-ti odd ... what did they replace? | Expansion valve or something to do with the evaporation unit. My car doesn't sound like a lion's groar literally but i have noticed that the thing/noise or whatever get stronger whenever I have my AC in higher settings. When I have it in the lowest setting it happens but not as strong as. Today I was driving with AC on and stopped a couple of times, then the vibration happened and while it was happening I turned the AC off immediately and the sound/vibration stopped instantly. | | | 06-28-2005, 02:33 PM | #14 | Member Join Date: Jun 2005 Location: Vineland, NJ Posts: 47 | Quote: Originally Posted by cali-ti sorry, that question was for steven sounds like he had a similar problem that was fixed under warranty and i'm wondering what part they replaced to fix it (as it might be the same problem part on yours). | Oh.. ok, I thought I was missing something Who knows, I am going to do some research on that, to understand what's the connection with ,my problem... | | | 06-28-2005, 02:34 PM | #15 | aka Stabby Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Mead, CO Posts: 5,336 | so perhaps it's related to blower speed? but with the AC off and just the blower on it doesn't do it? __________________ 1996 318ti, California package, 267k miles current mods: bilstein sports, bavauto springs, e30 m3 LCABs, solid metal ball joints, bavauto RSMs w/reinforcements, e30 3.73 LSD & halfshafts, supersprint cat-back exhaust, turner rear sway bar reinforcements, IE poly subframe & RTABs + camber/toe kits, powdercoated e36 32x front calipers, sport mirrors, H&R 28mmF/19mmR sway bars, x-brace, auto solutions SSK w/poly bushing upgrade, BMW CD43 head unit, DICE HD Radio w/iPod integration and "stealth" HD antenna, staggered style 68s, orange electronic TPMS, leather arm rest, JT Designs metal undertray acquired and awaiting install: heated seat kit, cali top switch relo, lumbar support kit, park distance control kit, heated washer nozzle kit, m-coupe rear subframe, trailing arms, differential, and halfshafts, m-coupe front/rear brakes with master cylinder, under hood light kit, mud flaps, rear sun blind, auto-dimming rear view mirror, tilt steering wheel retrofit, apexcone 5000K HIDs with 55W ballasts 2002 X5 4.4 Sport Package, 53.5k miles Current Mods: e46 m3 steering wheel | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
