My life is taking a new turn. The company I worked for closed up its secondary location, canning everyone. I'm excited for a change. I've been with the company for almost 7 years. I harbor no bitter feelings...its not my company to say what should or shouldn't be done. It's the vicious cycle of this sluggish economy. It continues to resonate. __________________ Last edited by Mr.Squeelerz; 07-01-2010 at 07:32 PM. | | | 07-01-2010, 08:38 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Pittsburgh, Pa Posts: 107 | Hey man hang in there. i got it last year. it was like a breath of fresh air was given to me. Ironically i had just purchased a house only about a month before hand. First thing, do what you can for unemployment. you need to do this asap. Then the best thing you can do is just take a few days off, relax, get your head together and think about not thinking about it a bit. Since it's a holiday weekend, don't start until Tuesday or Wednesday. Then get into it, redo your resume, check w/other people that have done resume's recently, and get it out there. Getting a job is your new temporary job. The usual monster, dice, etc. for the type of work you do as well will work. then go to linkedin.com, and indeed.com and start building those profiles. indeed.com was a blessing for me. it's basically an aggregator of all job listings. it's so powerful it wasn't even funny. i would have my lists of local positions every morning at 3am, so when i started at 4am pushing out resumes, they were all there. I'd do resumes until 8ish or until the kids woke up, and then watch the kids (it was the summer) and try to field phone interview calls during the day and interviews during nap time or when my wife was home. Hang in there man. You'll get through it. It certainly helped me refocus on what i really love to do at my job vs. the path my previous employer was taking me down. best of luck, Dave | | | 07-01-2010, 09:49 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Wanna come to SC? https://www.press.bmwgroup.com/press...tem=node__2208 Spartanburg, S.C. – July 1, 2010… BMW Manufacturing announced today it will bring on board over 500 new contingency associates in the next few months to get ready for production of the next generation BMW X3. This workforce increase also prepares Plant Spartanburg to meet growing demand of other models currently being produced for worldwide markets. The company said workers being hired under this process will be eligible for health, dental, 401(k) and vacation benefits. These actions are part of the overall start-up plan of the $750 million plant expansion that is nearing completion and will begin production this fall. Paint and body shop expansions, as well as the construction of a new assembly hall, were announced in March 2008. These additions are proceeding on schedule and are a part of the company’s growing commitment to production in the U.S. When completed, the plant in Spartanburg will begin 2011 with an expanded capacity of over 200,000 vehicles a year. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 07-01-2010, 11:46 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2006 Location: Westfield, IN Posts: 1,335 | Very sorry to hear that you lost your job! I would suggest do what Dave said. I have finished my resume to get an internship at Bosch here in Chicago. And will be handing it in tomorrow and hopefully will have an interview that day or possibly on Monday. Best of Luck! Keep positive and expand your search to different areas and it will work out for you. Enjoy your time off and your free unemployment money! I wasn't eligible unfortunately. Sometimes these things end up being the best thing that ever happened to you. __________________ -PTS- "Some people like cupcakes better.
