I could be wrong on this,if i am someone will correct me. They no longer sell direct fit speakers for the rear. I bought some used speakers off a member on here and when i got them i went to install them but realized it would be a pain in the butt. I still have the speakers sitting in my closet. __________________ 98 Avus Blue 318 ti Active clear outs all around, stealth turning signals, blue led interior lights, 35% tinted windows,K&N air filter, 12" Kenwood Sub, MTX Thunder Amp,Alpine cd changer, Leatherz Armrest,ACS Pedals/Handbrake/FloorMats & Vitesse Tuning Carbon Fiber B-Pillars/CF Spark Plug Cover, New 16" MSW Typer 14 Rims on Goodyear Triple Treds www.myspace.com/avusblueti | | | 05-19-2006, 05:11 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2006 Location: London Posts: 120 | The rears are in custom brackets, but you could probably quite easily modify them to fit normal 4 inch speakers. I believe a couple of companies even do speakers that screw straight in and connect directly to the loom, but you would have to ask around. I removed my speakers this afternoon to give me more room and remove some weight, here is a pic: www.ubiquity.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/oemrears.jpg | | | 05-19-2006, 08:33 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2005 Location: Puerto Rico Posts: 885 | i put a 4 inches speaker rear and a tweeters in those corners with somekinds of modificatios but easy __________________ BMW...MY NEW TOY Mods: Some plastic parts, ///M Wheels and me | | | 05-30-2006, 05:38 AM | #5 | Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: CA Posts: 47 | I hear from a friend that installs for a living that we can get 5.25" to fit into the back. Have to get more details because about to update my sound system soon. | | | 05-30-2006, 11:49 AM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2006 Location: London Posts: 120 | It just depends how much work you are willing to do to the mounts. I should imagine 5.25" would fit but you would have to move the bracket back slightly or it would interfere with the rear seatbelts. | | | 05-30-2006, 04:01 PM | #7 | Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: Christiansburg, VA Posts: 73 | If you want the best speakers, put in a little extra work and install some 6x9's in the rear deck. It's pretty easy if you're moderately competent with a jigsaw and aren't afraid to commit. Plus, they look cool as hell. Let me know if you want more detailed instructions - I'm thrilled with the sound, far better than the Fosgate 4" speakers that I had in there before! __________________ 1995 Black 318ti, 5-speed Mostly Stock... MB Quart made replacements in that size but people alwys had trouble finding them. A long time ago I saw a guy selling an OEM kit of MB Quart speakers. They were available as an upgrade. I will try and get the part number from an old email. You may have to order them from Europe but given there are tons of ti's over there it seems more likely they would have them. __________________ My Former Rides 1999 318ti Alpine White, Cali Roof, Dinan goodies 1996 318ti Hellrot California Edition | | | 05-30-2006, 05:13 PM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: state college, pa Posts: 3,431 | Boston Acoustics makes (or used to make) a very good setup for the ti. Some even prefer the speakers to a/d/s in Bimmers. __________________ I scream, you scream, we all scream for ZOMBIES. | | | 05-30-2006, 07:05 PM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Halethorpe, MD Posts: 1,028 | If those speakers are 4T, Crutchfield has a bunch of those from various manufacturers. That's good to know that they are an available size. To find them you have to skip the "What Fits Your Car" thing and just search for them. They sell a bracket overseas but not here so he scanned his and posted it so you could basically copy it over to a piece of plywood and cut it out | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
