Default How many ti's were made?

How long was the production run of the ti? Through '99 I believe. How many were actually made? 20K? 30k?

I believe the final number is around 30k. I read that in a AutoWeek magazine about a month ago.

Yes, Around 30K. In Europe there are Tis for the E46 models ranging from 316-323. And over there they are called "Compact".

A great many more than 30 000 E36 Compacts must have been sold in Europe. At one point, the 316i Compact was BMW's best selling model. I will see if I can find some numbers.

The first figure I can find is for the first quarter of 1995 during which BMW sold 21 394 compacts. Multiplying that by 4 x 7 for the other quarters and years, a very rough, back of the envelope calculation suggests BMW built perhaps half a million E36 compacts. It is a shame that BMW NA couldn't sell more of them!

official numbers

total amount of E36 compacts made and sold (worldwide) = 371.498

316i compact: 1,6 l Vierzylinder (Einspritzer/M43) mit 102 PS (75 kW) (1994-1999, 203.757 Einheiten)

316i compact: 1,9 l Vierzylinder (Einspritzer/M43TU) mit 105 PS (77 kW) (1999-2000, 22.951 Einheiten bis 1999)

316g compact: 1,6 l Vierzylinder (Einspritzer/Gas/M43) mit 102 PS (75 kW) (bei Gas 87 PS / 64 kW) (1995-2000, 471 Einheiten bis 1999)

318ti compact: 1,8 l Vierzylinder (Einspritzer/M42), ab 1996 1,9 l (M44) mit 140 PS (103 kW) (1994-1999)

323ti compact: 2,5 l Sechszylinder (Einspritzer/M52) mit 170 PS (125 kW) (1997-2000, 15.155 Einheiten)

318tds compact: 1,7 l Vierzylinder (Diesel/M41) mit 90 PS (66 kW) (1995-2000, 31.909 Einheiten bis 1999)

this makes 97.255 318ti's made till 1999

does anyone have any idea how much E36 compacts were made with California roof top ?
