Default Question Vented Rotors

Ok, I don't get this:

I have a '98 318ti with production date "05/1998" stamped into the sticker on the door.

Therefore, per everywhere I have read, I am supposed to have the vented front rotors.

However, the vented rotors made for "318ti with production date 04/1998 and later" are way too big. If using American measuring system the solid rotors put on by the shop for the previous owner are about 1/2" thick. The vented ones are about 7/8" thick.

The caliper won't accept the vented rotors...unless there is some magical extension that I am missing.

Any thoughts?

Furthermore, I will be returning the vented rotors and getting solids. However, I now face the situation that solid rotors were for 03/1998 and earlier.

What about the ones bimmerworld has for sale for $20? Those are solids and I am pretty sure they will fit. Heck they are the cheapest ones out there too.
