My brother owns a BMW shop in Phoenix and he regularly builds unique Bimmers. I just received a 1996 318ti with a 2.8L engine. He purchased the car a few months ago without a motor and found a wrecked 328 for the donor parts. It's a pretty sweet ride. I look forward to learning more on the forums! | | | 01-12-2018, 03:50 PM | #2 | Member Join Date: Jul 2017 Location: Chicago Area Posts: 40 | Welcome! I have a 1995 with a 2.8L M52 as well. If you have any questions hopefully I can help. __________________ 1995 318ti | Alpine White | M52 | 5MT 2004 330Ci | Black Sapphire | M54 | 6MT "Don't shift for me, save the Manuals!" | | | 01-12-2018, 03:58 PM | #3 | Junior Member Join Date: Jan 2018 Location: Kansas City Posts: 6 | Thanks! I still need to source a 188mm diff. Did you swap the rear end in your ti? | | | 01-12-2018, 06:23 PM | #4 | Member Join Date: Jul 2017 Location: Chicago Area Posts: 40 | Not yet. I've been fairly happy with how it performs with the stock ti diff so far. It's on the list though. __________________ 1995 318ti | Alpine White | M52 | 5MT 2004 330Ci | Black Sapphire | M54 | 6MT "Don't shift for me, save the Manuals!" | | | 01-12-2018, 08:09 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2009 Location: US Posts: 315 | I have a 188 410LSD. You can use your stock axles if you use the small case flanges. You should get the correct 6cyl axles though Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro | | | 01-14-2018, 08:49 PM | #6 | Junior Member Join Date: Oct 2017 Location: illinois Posts: 3 | Quote: Originally Posted by zachdog Good morning, I'm Matt and I'm new to this forum. He built a couple of cars I own, a 318ti and an E30 318is both with built s52/s50. I think my old seats are in your car. Your brother is great guy and mechanic; I wouldn't own BMWs if it weren't for him. | | | 03-20-2018, 03:54 AM | #12 | Junior Member Join Date: Jan 2018 Location: Kansas City Posts: 6 | Quote: Originally Posted by Mdriver I know it's an old post but I just stumbled upon it. My only fear is tearing up the rear end - hence my questions above about modding it. I've seen your ti as well. It's beautiful - and I hear it's fast! | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
