Found a great deal, from the pictures they appear to be the same as all the other replicas I found on the web, I believe most have the same manufacturer. They usually go for around $100 for the powered/heated ones. Well, I think I found a deal, $58.95 each. I'm going to get them and paint them myself. Scroll to the middle of the page, they're the white ones http://www.autoandpartspro.com/bodyparts/mirrors.html | | | 05-13-2005, 01:01 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2004 Location: Delafield, WI Posts: 471 | Just ordered them. Thought I would tell everyone, there is a $10.95 shipping and $11.90 handling charge. Total came to $140.75 for both mirrors, a good deal anyway. | | | 05-13-2005, 02:09 AM | #3 | aka Stabby Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Mead, CO Posts: 5,336 | be interesting to compare them to the mirrors i'm getting from Panzer_M. since his are cosmos black, i'm just going to bolt them on, shouldn't look too ghastly since there are other black accents on the car. better than no mirror, right? lol __________________ 1996 318ti, California package, 267k miles current mods: bilstein sports, bavauto springs, e30 m3 LCABs, solid metal ball joints, bavauto RSMs w/reinforcements, e30 3.73 LSD & halfshafts, supersprint cat-back exhaust, turner rear sway bar reinforcements, IE poly subframe & RTABs + camber/toe kits, powdercoated e36 32x front calipers, sport mirrors, H&R 28mmF/19mmR sway bars, x-brace, auto solutions SSK w/poly bushing upgrade, BMW CD43 head unit, DICE HD Radio w/iPod integration and "stealth" HD antenna, staggered style 68s, orange electronic TPMS, leather arm rest, JT Designs metal undertray acquired and awaiting install: heated seat kit, cali top switch relo, lumbar support kit, park distance control kit, heated washer nozzle kit, m-coupe rear subframe, trailing arms, differential, and halfshafts, m-coupe front/rear brakes with master cylinder, under hood light kit, mud flaps, rear sun blind, auto-dimming rear view mirror, tilt steering wheel retrofit, apexcone 5000K HIDs with 55W ballasts 2002 X5 4.4 Sport Package, 53.5k miles Current Mods: e46 m3 steering wheel | | | 05-13-2005, 02:18 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2004 Location: Delafield, WI Posts: 471 | cali-ti, The black would look good on your car. You beat me to those mirrors, I was going to buy those LOL. So I started searching again. It's going to cost around $45 for the matching basecoat and clearcoat to paint the replicas. | | | 05-13-2005, 02:35 AM | #5 | aka Stabby Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Mead, CO Posts: 5,336 | not too bad. be interested to check 'em out once you receive them. A sad loss, Panzer M's euro 318ti. Would be hard to start parting a car out so soon after a crash. All those bits add up, good start to the e30. If we visit Rausch(sp?) Performance I'll bring the mirrors along. I was hoping you got the mirrors even though I wanted 'em. It must have felt like crack the whip with the trailer. Having a valve stem seperate on a new inner tube on a 600lb motorcycle giving you an instant front flat going 70 downhill in rush hour with a passenger was one of my more memorable experiences. | | | 05-13-2005, 03:55 AM | #9 | aka Stabby Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Mead, CO Posts: 5,336 | ok ... now imagine the trailer story happening at like 70mph ... in a 87 fiero gt, lol people rushed to us thinking we'd be dead ... i was just sitting there holding the steering wheel thinking, "hey, that was fun." my friend was like, "get out of the car!" cause he thought there might be a fuel leak or something. wrecker came and pulled the car w/trailer out of the ditch and then we proceeded to drive home __________________ 1996 318ti, California package, 267k miles current mods: bilstein sports, bavauto springs, e30 m3 LCABs, solid metal ball joints, bavauto RSMs w/reinforcements, e30 3.73 LSD & halfshafts, supersprint cat-back exhaust, turner rear sway bar reinforcements, IE poly subframe & RTABs + camber/toe kits, powdercoated e36 32x front calipers, sport mirrors, H&R 28mmF/19mmR sway bars, x-brace, auto solutions SSK w/poly bushing upgrade, BMW CD43 head unit, DICE HD Radio w/iPod integration and "stealth" HD antenna, staggered style 68s, orange electronic TPMS, leather arm rest, JT Designs metal undertray acquired and awaiting install: heated seat kit, cali top switch relo, lumbar support kit, park distance control kit, heated washer nozzle kit, m-coupe rear subframe, trailing arms, differential, and halfshafts, m-coupe front/rear brakes with master cylinder, under hood light kit, mud flaps, rear sun blind, auto-dimming rear view mirror, tilt steering wheel retrofit, apexcone 5000K HIDs with 55W ballasts 2002 X5 4.4 Sport Package, 53.5k miles Current Mods: e46 m3 steering wheel | | | 05-13-2005, 04:09 AM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2004 Location: Delafield, WI Posts: 471 | OK, I'm laughing so hard, I have to contine the humor with The Simpsons and That 70's Show. | | | 05-13-2005, 04:28 AM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2004 Location: Manassas, VA Posts: 4,129 | I heard that...... I had to open the package and check them out. The quality is really good, they are much heavier than I expected. Can you believe it, inside the box they came in was a fleece bag for the mirrors. I am usually not fond of anything that's replica BMW, but for this kind of savings in a quality piece, I don't mind. Iwill probably connect them to verify the motor function before I paint them. Should be getting the paint, 12 oz aerosol matching Jet Black, and clear with the flex additive for plastic parts today. I inquired about the flex additive and PaintScratch said to use it. Here is the PaintScratch website if anyone needs to paint any parts or do any touchup http://www.paintscratch.com/ | | | 05-21-2005, 03:34 PM | #14 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2004 Location: Delafield, WI Posts: 471 | I just test fitted the M3 replica mirrors, I can confirm the M3 4dr sedan mirrors are the ones to get. The location of the 3 mounting holes are correct. The electrical connections plug right in the factory connectors, and the 4 wires on the powered/heated mirrors have the same colored wires as the factory ones (brown, white, blue, black). Verified the motor operation of the mirrors too. You won't need to remove both inside trim covers to check the motor drive, just plug either mirror in on one side. The mirrors from Auto and Parts Pro are first class, after painting the install will be a snap. Here's a link from Bimmerforums on how to do the install: http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...hlight=mirrors You don't need to remove the door panels to swap mirrors. | | | 05-21-2005, 03:40 PM | #15 | aka Stabby Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Mead, CO Posts: 5,336 | great news mike! thanks for the link too. i'll need to be doing that soon so it'll come in useful. hopefully i'll get to see them on your car before i leave. __________________ 1996 318ti, California package, 267k miles current mods: bilstein sports, bavauto springs, e30 m3 LCABs, solid metal ball joints, bavauto RSMs w/reinforcements, e30 3.73 LSD & halfshafts, supersprint cat-back exhaust, turner rear sway bar reinforcements, IE poly subframe & RTABs + camber/toe kits, powdercoated e36 32x front calipers, sport mirrors, H&R 28mmF/19mmR sway bars, x-brace, auto solutions SSK w/poly bushing upgrade, BMW CD43 head unit, DICE HD Radio w/iPod integration and "stealth" HD antenna, staggered style 68s, orange electronic TPMS, leather arm rest, JT Designs metal undertray acquired and awaiting install: heated seat kit, cali top switch relo, lumbar support kit, park distance control kit, heated washer nozzle kit, m-coupe rear subframe, trailing arms, differential, and halfshafts, m-coupe front/rear brakes with master cylinder, under hood light kit, mud flaps, rear sun blind, auto-dimming rear view mirror, tilt steering wheel retrofit, apexcone 5000K HIDs with 55W ballasts 2002 X5 4.4 Sport Package, 53.5k miles Current Mods: e46 m3 steering wheel | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
