Default Smashed Rear Windscreen "HELP!"

Hi i woke up this morning to find my hatch had a smashed windscreen seem like someone threw a rock at it. This is very upsetting because there are only 2 318ti and 3 316i Compacts in Fiji and none of them want to part out their cars 2 of them are wrecks etc. Sigh***

If anyone knows someone that is selling a rear windscreen and is willing to ship to Fiji please let me know. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Maybe you could consider doing a poly carbonate or plexi-glass rear wind screen! However you would be giving up the rear defrost, but I would assume that's not really a problem, in FIJI

Anthony, I suspect I can find one locally at Bavarian Recyclers in Rancho Cordova. Likely wont be cheap, but they may have one. If they won't ship international and this is your only option, I can research how much it would cost to ship, pick it up and have it sent to you.

I'd ask around the forums, and if there's no other option, I'll help you out. I'll call a few window places I know tomorrow between meetings.

Cheers!

Hey yeah it gets really hot here and defrost is not really needed. If i cant find anything soon than that will be my only temp option. I have a spare car so I'm using that for now but starting to miss the TI.

Im trying to see if there are some wrecks in NZ hope that turns out well. But please let me know if there is anything around that could be shipped to Fiji.

Check the Japan and Philippine BMW clubs as well. I recall seeing ti's while was in those countries. Is there a courier or shipping company commonly used for Fiji?

No worries, I'd be pissed if that happened to any of mine. I hope you can figure out how the event happened, or you may be doing this again... :

Good luck with your windshield! I had someone do the same to my car. I went out into the parking lot to move my car back into my regular parking stall after unloading a fish tank and as I approached, I thought the window looked really dirty. When I got closer, I realised that someone had smashed the window and there were hundreds of fine cracks running through it. Hope you find the bastard that did it. Teach him the Fiji Heimlich Maneuver - you know, the one with the baseball bat!

Anthony, I spoke with Joe at Bav Auto recycling and he'll sell the window or the whole hatch for $150, I pick up. They don't ship international. If you're interested, I'd suggest only shipping the window for weight and size considerations. I can bring it to a UPS store to get it wrapped and preped for shipping international. That way, they can also insure it in case it breaks.

I'd suggest high value for insurance purposes to cover the window delivered to Fiji as that will be the actual Fiji market value.

I'd guess the shipping will be 2-2.5 times the cost of the glass. I hope not, but then, when I get items from the U.K. it's usually 1.5-2.0 x times the cost of the item, depending on size and weight. This item once crated, will be expensive.

I'll measure my glass and estimate a weight, unless someone else knows off hand what it weighs.

Regards
