I have driven it now for about 300 miles and have had no issues or problems. However, I have a series of niggling worries: 1. the seat heat is continuously on. 2. the SRS light is on. the wire connecting that to the front seat was tugged out by accidentally stepping on it - it brought the CE light on.i conected it back and the CE light has gone but the darned the SRS light is still on. 3. i need a repair manual - does anyone ahve one? 4. can anyone advise me on how to maintain this car - as in what all to check and when. 5. is there a forum center in new jersey? thank you for your time | | | 05-11-2006, 04:43 PM | #2 | Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: New Jersey Posts: 38 | oh one more thing - i wanted to get some cosmetic fixes done like the front grill is a little loose and rattles. also, how does one turn on the fog lights. the car has fog lights but i do not know the switch to turn it on | | | 05-11-2006, 04:45 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2006 Location: No Where Posts: 297 | Quote: Originally Posted by praveen.thomas ...also, how does one turn on the fog lights. the car has fog lights but i do not know the switch to turn it on | Do you have a knob to the right of your instrument cluster? That's where my fog light "switch" is. I just pull the knob on the right. The one on the left is just for the headlights, but looks similar. Hope this helps. | | | 05-11-2006, 05:27 PM | #4 | Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: New Jersey Posts: 38 | Fog lamps i do not see a switch to the right. i m guessing the lamps are there for show then. | | | 05-11-2006, 05:47 PM | #5 | Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: New Jersey Posts: 38 | how does one reset the SRS light | | | 05-11-2006, 06:01 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: Portland Or Posts: 2,666 | Quote: Originally Posted by praveen.thomas how does one reset the SRS light | <grin> with the SRS reset tool or at your local dealer for $^5 There are some tools that plug into the connector by the master cylinder under the hood. Peake sells the most common. Not fancy but they will read codes and reset some errors. You need a specific tool for the SRS reset. It only takes about 1 dealer trip to buy the tool ;P Do some searching for SRS on this and other BMW forums and youll get the story... I'm not sure. Unless it was installed as a separate switch somewhere near the stearing wheel. | | | 05-11-2006, 08:28 PM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2004 Location: Northern Michigan Posts: 867 | You could become a supporter and then rent the SRS tool. It's an easy fix to turn the light off. Chilton's is a decent manual. realoem.com is good site to look up parts and #'s. __________________ [SIGPIC][/SIGPIC] | | | 05-11-2006, 08:47 PM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: Portland Or Posts: 2,666 | Quote: Originally Posted by praveen.thomas Heh heh, i m scared to step into a dealer as i have a feeling they will take a noose and tighten it around my neck. is there an online repair manual that i can lay my hands on? | Its not your neck they tie it around....... As to service manuals i'd recommend the Bentley manaul. And on the foglights there is a round button to the right of the instrument gauge cluster, basically dirrectly opposite to the headlight knob. thats where the factor button is located. If it's aftermarket lights then the previous owner could've put the switch anywhere. You might want to look to see if there is another button next to the ASC+T button which is located basically to the left of the steering wheel column by your left knee. __________________ 98 Avus Blue 318 ti Active clear outs all around, stealth turning signals, blue led interior lights, 35% tinted windows,K&N air filter, 12" Kenwood Sub, MTX Thunder Amp,Alpine cd changer, Leatherz Armrest,ACS Pedals/Handbrake/FloorMats & Vitesse Tuning Carbon Fiber B-Pillars/CF Spark Plug Cover, New 16" MSW Typer 14 Rims on Goodyear Triple Treds www.myspace.com/avusblueti | | | 05-12-2006, 12:30 AM | #15 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: Portland Or Posts: 2,666 | You might also look under the car to see if the lights are connected. I've bought 2 cars that both had lights and no wiring.... ,..arrg.
