these are what the headlights will look light after
but these do not have the shrouds fitted around the projecter

with out projector shroud

with projector shroud

as you can see around the projector its plack with the shrouds on
this also helps the light from not shining off the silver and bluring the angel eyes

ipswitch,

Good mod, worth doing and getting some xenons in there will be great.

I put some saloon headlights in my ti earlier in the year and didnt need anything more than the headlights, the round plug connector for the headlights, a soldering iron and a couple of hours time. The wiring colours are even the same in a saloon and compact, so no need to get a multi meter out really.(always good to be safe and check though).

Good luck with the swap.

AFAIK, only the corner lights differ from saloon/coupe. All the actual headlight housings remain the same (except for some international versions, 316i, etc).

well the headlights on compact are different tocoupe and saloon

the insides are a bit larger on the compact and also the looms are totally different

to get the angel eyes to sit in there like the pics the coupe lights are needed

i've already got the h1 hid kit, so what i'm planning is to hook up the old hb3 bulb connector to the ballast pack (straight fit) then the side lamp bulbs (using the ti bulb stems and OE wiring). then all i'm stuck on is getting the full beams on. thanks for your help dude, i'll PM you if you dont mind, if i'm struggling.

ipswich, do you see what i meant about the hb3 connector plugging straight to the h1 ballast. oh i de-lensed them but i'm not putting angel eye's in. i personally dont like em', but do you know of a shroud/blanking kit i can fit so you cant see one lantern through the gap of the other.

these are the coupe lamps with the hid bulb and ballast installed. i just need to wire the full beam and sidelights. did you say you can use the o.e compact sidelight capless bulb stems? cos' then all i need is to power the full beams.
