Here is the picture of the connector, when I installed my new armrest. Not sure if I need to use it, but it has possibilities. The radio mute pin is interesting, but how do you get your phone to send the signal on that pin? My Blaupunkt head unit will mute if that pin sends the correct signal. http://www.geocities.com/l84thsky/connector.JPG Quote: Originally Posted by cali-ti so does our (collectively speaking) connector on the ti look the same as that? have you called to get your free engineering samples yet? | __________________ 1998 (July) 318ti, 5-spd OEM Armrest Blaupunkt Heidelberg CD50 CD Player/Compact Drive MP3 Player Diamond Audio 5.25" rear speakers Navman ICN 530 GPS BMWALARM.COM (with comfort settings) after market alarm system Magnecor 8.5mm wires M-Z3 Shifter/Momo Knob Burlwood Dashboard Stromung Exhaust X-brace Racing Dynamics Front Strut Bar Carbonio C.A.I. 17" Rial Rims Vader Seats/Heated/Lumbar Support M-tech Steering Wheel/Front Sway Bar/Front & Rear Bumper Depos/w 6500K Angel Eyes/6000K HIDs Clear Corners M3 Mirrors UUC Light Weight Flywheel/M5 Clutch/M3 Clutch Slave E28 3.46 LSD/Mcoupe Cover/E30 Flanges & Halfshafts UUC S.S. It has power when your ignition key is turned, and no power when you don't have the key in the ignition. I will finally be done with my Electrical Engineering degree this Fall, after 7 1/2 years of night school. Here is a picture of mine when I was installing my armrest. I'm gonna take the auxillary power socket that I bought on Ebay, and wire it to this connector. That way my son can use his portable DVD player in the back seat. Here is a picture of the auxillary power adapter. It's suppost to connect to a socket in the glove box. Our cars don't have the socket, but if I can wire the mobile phone adapter to the cigarette lighterpower adapter cable, I'm in business. (requires ashtray removal) might be easier to go that route and just run the wires than try and figure out this connector. they're a bit thicker gauge as well. | | | 06-06-2005, 08:04 PM | #13 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Halethorpe, MD Posts: 1,028 | I don't think the ti was pre-wired for the lighted knob. When I bought mine from the dealer it came with the wires that had to run to the distribution block under the dash on the driver's side. [QUOTE=aceyx]i believe the unknown 2-pin connector in the link is for the lighted shift knob. if i'm correct, it is switched power, and will dim with the rest of the interior lights. | | | 06-06-2005, 08:40 PM | #14 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: state college, pa Posts: 3,431 | hm. alarm LED perhaps? | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
