It's the rubber damper in the white gear. I had to do the drivers window like 5 years ago. I think the DIY is in the knowledge base. JB weld and 3 short screws is the fix. I just wanted to complain to someone since no one is here (My 2 boys) gives a crap. I'm going to roll it all the way up and then we will see if the kids give a crap tomorrow when they are getting their rides to and from school with no air flow and 90 degrees weather. Its been a bad 5 days. TPS went, Fuel tank is leaking from full to 3/4 right under the back seat, A/C needs a charge, etc, etc. John S | | | 10-13-2014, 11:20 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Sorry for the troubles. Are you talking about the round wheel that slides in the track? I don't think anyone has ever fixed it with a screw. Is it the image in my first post? http://www.318ti.org/forum/showthread.php?t=38707 I bought a replacement arm for Bimmerbum in the past. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 10-13-2014, 11:39 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Gulfport, Florida Posts: 3,208 | No it is the white plastic gear on the window motor. It has a rubber damper system in it that breaks when the rubber gets brittle and turns to black dust. I'm sure of what it is since I already rolled the window up with the door panel off. If there is no DIY in the knowledge base I will put one in there. | | | 10-15-2014, 12:49 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2004 Location: Northern Michigan Posts: 867 | Bah... damn doors.... I just finished another regulator in the driver and got everything back mint. Now my passenger is bogged up because...? It's freezing in the am! Dreaming of 90s! So, i am not sure what grease to use in the track for cold temp glide... any suggestions? __________________ [SIGPIC][/SIGPIC] | | | 10-15-2014, 03:14 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2012 Location: Sacramento, CA Posts: 2,451 | Quote: Originally Posted by xxxJohnBoyxxx Fuel tank is leaking from full to 3/4 right under the back seat, etc, etc. John S | John, Is your tank ruptured? It is the plastic access hole on top of the tank. When I installed high pressure fuel pump to handle my fuel needs under high boost I drilled to holes in the cap to run larger gauge wiring for the HFHP fuel pump. I originally sealed the holes with JB Weld but over the years the fuel has broken down the JB Weld and fuel leaks out the wire holes during hard acceleration, braking and hard cornering causes fuel to splashes onto the top of the talk. I need to get in there and seal it with a fuel grade epoxy also I assume the tank EVAP system is not working since if it was the fuel would be sucked back into the tank as the system tries to pull a vacuum on the fuel tank as emissions require on a 1997 car. Again thanks for the offer, I would be all over it if the tank was cracked. John Smith Dang look at the grammar and spelling in this post.
