I got back from getting an estimate at a local auto colision center.
my 96 ti is red and it has key scratches on both side. I was told $2800 to paint the whole thing. Taking it apart and it would be a week and 1/2.
The adjuster told me I could use Maaco but not the advertised price. He suggested going with the 700 - $800 charge and it would be decent.

yeah ... really depends on what you want to do with the car in the future. i'm planning on keeping mine for a long time and making it into what i really want it to be so ... may be worth it for me as a long term project whereas for others it may well not be worth it (eg: a daily driver). __________________ 1996 318ti, California package, 267k miles

Can i ask you a quick ?....i want to change my air filter and fuel filter.

lol ... OMG! bentley manual is like $50. amazon or wherever is good. someone on here was even selling a used one (not sure if it's sold or not). haynes manual is also ok for the things you're talking about and is probably $15-20. for the actual filters, i would try pellicanparts.com or bimmerparts.com. if those are the only things you want to do (right now anyway), pelicanparts.com might even have docs on how to do those (or check bimmerDIY.com, understeer.com or unofficialbmw.com). the filters will be a lot less than $150. might want to refresh the fuel line and clamps around the fuel filter while you're at it. __________________ 1996 318ti, California package, 267k miles
