You should also note in your listing that THIS SWAP IS ILLEGAL and the vehicle WILL NOT PASS EMISSIONS TESTS IN MOST STATES due to the engine being from an older car that is not OBDII compliant.

Maybe that was a typo about the year.
http://www.318ti.org/forum/showthread.php?t=23959

Looks like it had an OBD II to I conversion.
Going to be tough to sell in a location that requires emission inspection.

The first picture you posted shows that it does in fact have an M50, not an M52 which means that it's OBD1, which means that you're lying about the year of the car that it came out of and probably the mileage. We all know that there's no way you're getting 35mpg with an M50, heck you'd be lucky to get that with an M44. You should also note in your listing that THIS SWAP IS ILLEGAL and the vehicle WILL NOT PASS EMISSIONS TESTS IN MOST STATES due to the engine being from an older car that is not OBDII compliant. May I also suggest that you should learn what exactly it is that you're selling and be as honest as possible. This forum has many enthusiasts that know when they're being lied to.
well afetr the swap the on board computer still works and if its accurate then it sure as heck is getting that. however i havent mapped out a tank to see for sure. and mileage is very accurate as i have the factory guage cluster from the 95 is in the car now reading 106,xxx.
also im no stranger to the form this i where i seeked help on the wiring and disabling the ews from th 97. i have not lied about anything!!!

i live in iowa and here its perfectly leagal. in cali they may crush it lol, due to the engine being older than the car, may or may not pass smog ecu vin doesnt match the shell, etc etc

i love the midwest for our lack of regulations on swaped cars!!

Look man, I gave you the benefit of the doubt that the year of the donor was a typo and not a lie. We know better that the engine didn't come from a '97 325is. I modified my post to reflect that you weren't lying about the year, mileage and fuel economy. However if you want to keep going on about it then yeah, I'll raise the BS flag and say that there's no way you're getting 35mpg. Sure, maybe going downhill with a tail wind, following a truck, with an empty tank of gas and no cargo or passengers So you're telling me that your car get's the same if not better gas mileage than an OBDII 1.9L 4cyl with smaller fuel injectors and two less cylinders??? And no, your swap is not legal in any part of the United States. The EPA is a federal agency. While your state may not conduct emissions inspections or even enforce the laws set by our government, it does not mean that it's "perfectly legal". Fact is, if anyone from out of state buys your car, they're more than likely going to have problems registering it if their local DMV does any kind of visual inspection or if their state conducts emissions inspections. And that applies to MOST states. Not here to trash your sale, just wanted to point out that there is no such thing as a '97 325is, it probably doesn't get 35mpg and people should be aware of potential problems when registering it in another state.

You should update your original post with this info. And while you're doing that you should add the asking price to the original post too. :-)

It has been well documented that while the computer appears to be working it is not actually calculating the correct mpg. There is a DIY on here about making/buying a device that can correct it. You should calculate some tanks by hand to get the real mpg.

I'm sorry you think I'm here to trash your sale. I'm actually just trying to protect the other members of the forum from what appears to be a dishonest seller. It happened here about a year ago where a member bought another members swapped car and couldn't get it registered in his state. In regards to your OBC claims, I can put 13" wheels on my car and the speedometer will tell you my car goes 200mph, but that doesn't mean it's true. I can use a 4cyl cluster with my s52 swap and the tach will say it revs past 10,000rpms, but that doesn't mean it's true. I'm sure you probably did register it with no hassles in Iowa, and that's cool if you're selling it to someone in Iowa. What about the rest of the country? Instead of telling me to "shut my mouth", why don't you just try to be honest?

i have not lied. A few typos and missinformed mpg statementa. (not worth crying over) and your right you would have to be crafty to register this in some states but thats no issue to the area im marketing this car to. Yes this is a national thread but lets be honest most e36 cars are not worth a treck across country. That being said i would be willing to ship the car.

now lets bury the hatchet and cheers to a hypothetical drink!!
