We are picking it up sometime this coming week. I'm not sure who is more excited. I have a '02 325xi, but there is something special about this car. Something calling out to me to mod it... | | | 06-29-2009, 04:02 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | welcome, any more info on the ti? or maybe pics? | | | 06-29-2009, 04:47 AM | #3 | Junior Member Join Date: Jun 2009 Location: CT Posts: 25 | I'll post pics as soon as we get it. We did not take pics when we went to see it. I regret that. It is black, auto, 160K miles, new front-end, tires, brakes, etc. Very well maintained mechanically, but a few scuffs and minor dents. Needs fog lights, minor seat repair, p/s sidemarker is cracked (thinking about replacing with clear anyway), headliner is a bit saggy and steering wheel leather needs restitch or a Wheelskin EuroPerf depending. It runs and rides great. Ordered our first mod...a 318ti.org decal! | | | 06-29-2009, 05:16 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2008 Location: Rocky Mountains Posts: 610 | Welcome to the org! Previous owner had his daughter driving so he made sure it was in good running condition. He gave me receipts for repairs over the last 12-16 months including brakes, rotors, new rear diff, pipe and catalytic converter, both window regulators repaired (they work great!), condenser, oil changes. He said there were more and said it had a new front end suspension. Rubber is excellent. He said whatever they said it needed was done. He took it in every 3K miles for an oil change. Oh, it has a new windshield. There are some issues including the airbag light, sagging liner, driver's seat needs minor repair, steering wheel leather is loose at the top of the wheel and is a bit torn up, trunk shelf (functional still, but a bit chewed) and a few scrapes and dents. He is shipping me a new p/s mirror since it was broken after we saw the car. The boys are thrilled. DMV is closed until Tues so they could not drive today, but they washed and waxed it. Tomorrow they tackle the interior. Here is a shot after washing. The light was not great after the wax job so more tomorrow. | | | 07-06-2009, 12:09 PM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Good luck. The only true repair of the headliner is replacement. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 07-06-2009, 01:02 PM | #12 | Member Join Date: Jul 2006 Location: branford, CT Posts: 89 | hey from CT also i should come by and take a look. There is a DIY in the appropriate section __________________ 1996 318ti - 2000 Z3 2.3 - 2012 MINI Cooper Hatchback | | | 07-08-2009, 01:53 PM | #14 | Junior Member Join Date: Jun 2009 Location: CT Posts: 25 | I did the dreaded DMV run yesterday and let both boys drive last night. They are bitten! The airbag light comes on initially and about a 1/2 block later turns off. No blinking, no steady on, etc. What does this mean? At least, I did not miss this when I drove it the first time. You are a model father. As for me, my daughter is 5 and I'm wondering if 128's will be affordable when she's 16. Instead of restitching the stock wheel, consider a 3 spoke from a '99 Ti or M3, think the M Roadster/Coupe works too. It's slightly smaller in diameter and has nice thumb rests. It's way worth the upgrade as you get to experience it 100% of the time you're driving. I've had both, the 3 spoke wins hands down. There are other M wheels too. __________________ My Former Rides 1999 318ti Alpine White, Cali Roof, Dinan goodies 1996 318ti Hellrot California Edition | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
