I am a bit undecided on what to get. The Rieger or the LTW. I know J!M (haven't seen him on the boards lately) has the LTW and the more I look at it the more it grows on me. Does he have the risers installed in the pictures in his gallery? If I were to get one I think I would try it without the risers. L8, did you put on the Rieger spoiler yet? If so could you post some different angle shots? Did you buy the one with the 3rd brake light? I know most of you have the OEM M-tech spoiler, but I feel like being different. So if it had to be one of these two which would it be? __________________ | | | 06-14-2006, 11:07 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2004 Location: Manassas, VA Posts: 4,129 | My body shop in Westbury didn't want to put it on. I took a look at what it would take, and it had me concerned. I guess I'm just too lazy to get it done. The front lip and rear roof spoiler are installed. I've seen it person, I know J!M personally. Let me tell you, it took some custom fitting to get that wing on that hatch. The bottom risers had to be "Frenched" onto the hatch. Its not gonna be a direct nor perfect fit. J!M just wanted to emulate the actual M3 LTW right down to the OEM LTW spoiler on the front bumper. I suggest that you get something that was more or less intended for the ti, unless your gonna dedicate time and more importantly money into finding, and fitting and LTW wing on a ti. Just my .02. __________________ "Power Rules, Smooth is Fast, Late Brake if you HAVE TO, But Always get the Inside Line.......and Fear No One." | | | 06-15-2006, 02:47 AM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2005 Location: Vancouver, B.C. Besides, then our Ti's will look even more alike! __________________ | | | 06-15-2006, 04:04 AM | #7 | Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: asheville, nc, usa Posts: 82 | i guess getting back to my original question does anybody know where you can buy the spoiler that is on jims car? from what company and the name of the spoiler? thanks grm | | | 06-15-2006, 04:12 AM | #8 | aka Stabby Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Mead, CO Posts: 5,336 | it's an original bmw part for the m3 lightweight. if you're lucky enough to find one, be prepared to shell out some serious cash. there are companies that made knock-offs. i believe J!m put some pics of the m3 ltw in his gallery that show pics of it. his does have the risers present, but i believe he said those can be taken out if desired (at least the way he had it done). __________________ 1996 318ti, California package, 267k miles current mods: bilstein sports, bavauto springs, e30 m3 LCABs, solid metal ball joints, bavauto RSMs w/reinforcements, e30 3.73 LSD & halfshafts, supersprint cat-back exhaust, turner rear sway bar reinforcements, IE poly subframe & RTABs + camber/toe kits, powdercoated e36 32x front calipers, sport mirrors, H&R 28mmF/19mmR sway bars, x-brace, auto solutions SSK w/poly bushing upgrade, BMW CD43 head unit, DICE HD Radio w/iPod integration and "stealth" HD antenna, staggered style 68s, orange electronic TPMS, leather arm rest, JT Designs metal undertray acquired and awaiting install: heated seat kit, cali top switch relo, lumbar support kit, park distance control kit, heated washer nozzle kit, m-coupe rear subframe, trailing arms, differential, and halfshafts, m-coupe front/rear brakes with master cylinder, under hood light kit, mud flaps, rear sun blind, auto-dimming rear view mirror, tilt steering wheel retrofit, apexcone 5000K HIDs with 55W ballasts 2002 X5 4.4 Sport Package, 53.5k miles Current Mods: e46 m3 steering wheel | | | 06-15-2006, 04:21 AM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2004 Location: Manassas, VA Posts: 4,129 | Atleast two holes on both ends are necessary. If you open your hatch, you will see that you need to remove the inner hatch liner to even see where the holes would go. I've got too many other mods to work on now, this one can wait. The thing is I'm second in line to buy it. Anywhere else, that wing will be over a $1000. The Rieger is roughly $300. I figured the LTW won't be a perfect fit but for that price I think its worth the investment. I will talk to the guy again today and tell him the money is ready for him, hopefully he'll bite. __________________ | | | 06-15-2006, 11:21 AM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2005 Location: PA Posts: 1,906 | Quote: Originally Posted by Juni The bottom risers had to be "Frenched" onto the hatch. | Can you explain? __________________ | | | 06-15-2006, 12:07 PM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2005 Location: Malden, MA Posts: 672 | Quote: Originally Posted by Platanos Can you explain? | Basically, those are the words that J!M used. Maybe J!M can explain in better detail.....J!M you wanna chime in on this? __________________ "Power Rules, Smooth is Fast, Late Brake if you HAVE TO, But Always get the Inside Line.......and Fear No One." | | | 06-15-2006, 01:22 PM | #13 | Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: asheville, nc, usa Posts: 82 | Being new to bmw's can someone explain to me what a m3 lwt is, and what a alpina is? and where can I see a picture of these cars. or send me in the right direction to find any information.
