Default I'm thinking about buying a 3000gt

Due to some mistakes in my past my insurance is very high especially since I just moved to the bay area. I was thinkin about selling my TI and buying a 3000gt with a auto tranny and just carrying liability insurance cause im pretty sure I can get one for under $2k, anyone shed some light on the differances between the cars?

I like the look of the the 3000gt. Don't really know the differences between them. Well free bump.

im not a big fan. dont like the looks but you ca build them up quite a bit and make them pretty quick (turbo ones that is)

there is a member here that has both a ti and 3000 hopefully he will give his opinion.

but why not get liability on the ti?

Do you mean the differences between a 3000 and a Ti? If so, the major differences are pretty obvious. A v6 non-turbo 3000 is a pretty slow car. Probably a little slower than a Ti, and a lot slower in terms of cornering ability. They are big heavy cars. You can build them up and make them faster, but for what you will spend, you could easily just buy a better car to begin with...

To me, it was trying to be a sports car, but it is just to big and bulky to pull it off right. The turbo's are faster, but if you want a big turbo car, I'd get a supra before a 3000gt any day.

The 3000 base model is front wheel drive, and I've heard of people having problems with the vr4 all wheel drive version.

3000gt base model specs-
power- 3.0liter v6 SOHC- 161hp or DOHC at 222hp, you have to get the early model year base model to get the DOHC motor. Otherwise, you have to get a later model SL.

MPG- 19/25
Weight- between 3100 and 3250 pounds depending on model year.

that's what I was thinking, I'm sure an entry-level 4-cyl. BMW would be cheaper to insure than the sportier looking, V6 3000gt
