I've received an email from this forum saying someone has tried to login to this forum using my name (the email notification supplies the i.p. address of the person concerned) Just to let folks know I'll be tracing the i.p. address and taking appropriate action. For what purpose someone wants to access this forum using my username for I don't know - spamming maybe? Anyway, I take this seriously. Thank you. __________________ E36/5 '95 318ti Auto. His last longgin was today. Maybe he hasn't logged in a long time and forgot to put a "h" in front of it. __________________ Come get a ti-shirt Quote: From the e30 M3, evolved the e36. As most people do, it's a way to gain entry to more important sites. I have about ten passwords, low-strength to ridiculous strength depending on priority of the site and allowances in character length. __________________ I scream, you scream, we all scream for ZOMBIES. | | | 02-07-2009, 12:19 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: Yorkshire Posts: 151 | Aye, I have several passwords myself - will forward the ip address to steve (if he can PM me then I can forward the email) since no doubt 'Mods' can see them (I can see ip addresses being a moderator on a UK BMW forum) If it's a mistake then fair enough - it happens, just can't be too careful nowadays. __________________ E36/5 '95 318ti Auto. I've never heard of something like this happening. I don't have any mods or hacks that would do that. It's actually a board feature. You get only a few attempts to get the password right on your account. Then your account usually freezes for 30-60minutes, and a email also gets sent. __________________ Come get a ti-shirt Quote: From the e30 M3, evolved the e36. The 'board feature' sends you the ip address of the person attempting to use your login (first time I've seen it tbh) I've forwarded this response to Steve. __________________ E36/5 '95 318ti Auto. The ip address in Canadian. Rhys H is from Canada. Now can you do something with your signature? Like make it smaller? __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 02-07-2009, 01:49 AM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: Yorkshire Posts: 151 | Yep, I got a Canadian link from the ip - that pretty much wraps it up then.
