Most people have said dead middle. Mine has always been a hair to the right of middle since I bought it this summer. I did see one reference to the needle slightly to the right. Question is, is the needle a hair to the right an early indication of anything wrong, or is everything good to go. Entire cooling system, including the 2 plastics, has been replaced. Thanks for any thoughts. | | | 01-13-2012, 09:04 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2011 Location: Philly Posts: 605 | mine is to the right the slightest, i know what you mean. you're fine | | | 01-13-2012, 09:05 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2011 Location: Phx Posts: 196 | Sounds good, thanks. | | | 01-13-2012, 09:35 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Elizabeth City, NC Posts: 3,877 | I've replaced my entire cooling system and bled it many times and my needle is also slightly to the right. I've noticed that it will go to dead middle if I'm driving for more than an hour. It has always bothered me but I have no signs of a HG problem and it never goes more than a hair to the right, I still watch it like a hawk though. __________________ ~Dave~ 98 328ti Morea Grun slicktop 11 128i space gray slicktop 13 JGC WK2 Deep Cherry Search | RealOEM | | | 01-13-2012, 09:42 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2011 Location: Phx Posts: 196 | Great, more confirmation, thanks. Yeah, I've noticed, for 15+ years on Jeeps and 15 weeks on a TI, I'm always checking my gauges constantly. Good to know the slight right is OK. | | | 01-13-2012, 09:51 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2010 Location: Potomac Falls VA DMV Posts: 1,794 | You know you drive a Ti when you watch the temp gauge more than you watch the road. __________________ Im guessing im the youngest member on here with a S52 power'ed Ti at 16 years old! | | | 01-14-2012, 12:04 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2010 Location: Wichita Falls, Texas Posts: 1,364 | Install an Engine Watchdog engine temperature monitoring system from Austrailian Signals and you won't have to watch the temperature guage ever again. | | | 01-14-2012, 12:06 AM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2011 Location: Philly Posts: 605 | JCA That sounds sweet! | | | 01-14-2012, 05:43 AM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2010 Location: Wichita Falls, Texas Posts: 1,364 | It's very cheap insurance against a blown headgasket or worse if you don't shut an overheating engine down in time. By the way, I've got the radio and cd changer installed. They both work great...thanks again. | | | 01-14-2012, 07:22 AM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2011 Location: Broomfield,Colorado Posts: 664 | Quote: Originally Posted by slow_ti You know you drive a Ti when you watch the temp gauge more than you watch the road. | so true Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk | | | 01-14-2012, 08:59 AM | #11 | Junior Member Join Date: Apr 2011 Location: Bay Area, CA Posts: 26 | Fan clutch was my issue. Mine was creeping a bit more in city driving but dead center on the hwy. Quick & easy repair to do...10-15 mins max. The shroud can be a bit tricky to maneuver but that's about it. Unless the electric fan has some sort of "clutch", could you please explain? Last edited by cooljess76; 01-14-2012 at 09:08 AM.
