Default FS in North Carolina: '96 318ti, auto, white, $2500

Alrighty... time to sell the Ti, unfortunately. I bought this last August ('08) for $3500 @ 144k mi on the odometer (feel free to search my old posts for some history). Now it's up to 164k. I put new tires & brakes on it last November.

Why am I selling? I'm in grad school now & can't keep up with the maintenance on it, for two reasons: 1) I live in an apartment complex, have no access to tools, & 2) I use a wheelchair b/c I broke my neck ~10yrs ago, which makes working on cars challenging.

The car does run well, but has a few issues... all leaks, actually... and I'm not interested in paying a shop to fix them, to be honest. There's a small leak in the steering R&P housing & another small leak in the cooling system somewhere. Both of these are relatively non-problematic, but necessitate checking the coolant level + steering fluid (ATF) level every so often. I top them off every 3-4 months. The exhaust system has a leak somewhere as well, and consequently the car is a little loud at the moment.

The car does have hand controls installed in it b/c of my injury. Essentially all this involves is a handle to the left of the steering wheel with two levers bolted to the pedals... push it down (towards the floor) for gas, push it forward (towards firewall) for brake. It's 100% mechanical, doesn't interfere with normal operation, & easy to remove. I can leave them installed, or remove them. They'll fetch a few hundred on ebay.

The drivers-side side skirt is scratched up a bit b/c of how I position my wheelchair next to the car to transfer into the drivers seat. I imagine it can be cleaned up w/ some elbow grease.

There's some rust on the rear fenders. It's not bad & was there when I got the car. It hasn't spread. The car came from Ohio & I figure it picked up some salt from the midwest winter roads.

The airbag light is on, not sure why. I have the Peak tool to reset it. I'll include that.

It has a sunroof (functions normally), a Blaupunkt CD head unit, stock speakers. It needs a new antenna.

I've priced this to sell @ $2500. I have twice that into it. I know it's not perfect, but with a little TLC someone can get this in back into pretty good shape.

Photos below taken this morning, 9/15/09. Car is in zip 27284 (Kernersville, NC). Current Virginia inspection through 11/09. Questions, offers, etc: scott.pruett@gmail.com or 970.239.0093.

Thanks for looking!
Scott

er... scratch that. Talk about bad timing. I'm glad this didn't sell (been thinking about it for a few weeks).

The following was a few hours after those photos were taken...

It was isolated to the engine compartment... but dangit.

Oh man, that sucks! Was it a fire or coolant leak? The 4-cylinders have a couple plastic coolant pipes that can cause real problems. Hope you're ok!

that sucks, but you can always lower your price more and sell it to someone who wants to part it

If you are able to part it out I'd be up for getting the door panels, a pillars, and the black trim that goes around the car. I'm sure there are a few other things as well.

Thanks guys. I'm fine.

Dunno what happened... I was driving to school, heard a little clicking sound with acceleration, heard something break, engine stalled... I pulled over, noticed a little smoke, got out, flames several minutes later. The fire dept. took care of it real quick though. It was hot enough to burn through the hood, but stayed contained w/in the engine compartment.

If anyone wants it, make an offer quick. I'll let it go for almost any price. Right now I just need it gone & don't have a ton of time to mess w/ it. I'll likely just take it to a salvage yard today.
