Hi Guys, First post on this site after getting my 318ti, have been reading the threads with interest. my question is does anyone know why i cant swithc my asc off? the light comes on at the dash when the ignition is first turned on but then goes off. i am understand the asc is automatically on whenever the engine is on but i thought you could switch it off if desired (by the green switch) which should illuminate the dase light - this doesnt seem to be the case? does anyone have any suggestions? thanking you in advance | | | 10-16-2005, 10:54 PM | #2 | TRETEN IRGENDEINES ESELS Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: Rhode Island Posts: 3,687 | You have to hold the button down for a a second or too. If you just tap it it doesn not switch off, this is the button to the left of the stering wheel by your nknee. When it is off the light will be illuminated on ur dash. __________________ 98 Avus Blue 318 ti Active clear outs all around, stealth turning signals, blue led interior lights, 35% tinted windows,K&N air filter, 12" Kenwood Sub, MTX Thunder Amp,Alpine cd changer, Leatherz Armrest,ACS Pedals/Handbrake/FloorMats & Vitesse Tuning Carbon Fiber B-Pillars/CF Spark Plug Cover, New 16" MSW Typer 14 Rims on Goodyear Triple Treds www.myspace.com/avusblueti | | | 10-16-2005, 11:57 PM | #3 | aka Stabby Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Mead, CO Posts: 5,336 | green switch? what green switch? believe mine is black and is below and to the left of the steering column. __________________ 1996 318ti, California package, 267k miles current mods: bilstein sports, bavauto springs, e30 m3 LCABs, solid metal ball joints, bavauto RSMs w/reinforcements, e30 3.73 LSD & halfshafts, supersprint cat-back exhaust, turner rear sway bar reinforcements, IE poly subframe & RTABs + camber/toe kits, powdercoated e36 32x front calipers, sport mirrors, H&R 28mmF/19mmR sway bars, x-brace, auto solutions SSK w/poly bushing upgrade, BMW CD43 head unit, DICE HD Radio w/iPod integration and "stealth" HD antenna, staggered style 68s, orange electronic TPMS, leather arm rest, JT Designs metal undertray acquired and awaiting install: heated seat kit, cali top switch relo, lumbar support kit, park distance control kit, heated washer nozzle kit, m-coupe rear subframe, trailing arms, differential, and halfshafts, m-coupe front/rear brakes with master cylinder, under hood light kit, mud flaps, rear sun blind, auto-dimming rear view mirror, tilt steering wheel retrofit, apexcone 5000K HIDs with 55W ballasts 2002 X5 4.4 Sport Package, 53.5k miles Current Mods: e46 m3 steering wheel | | | 10-17-2005, 08:21 AM | #4 | Junior Member Join Date: Oct 2005 Location: UK Posts: 10 | thanks tyler, i'll give it a try. | | | 10-18-2005, 01:34 PM | #5 | Junior Member Join Date: Oct 2005 Location: UK Posts: 10 | I held in the ASC button a number of times for different periods of time but still no light appeared on the dash? could it be faulty witing? | | | 10-18-2005, 01:38 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Or a bad switch? __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 10-18-2005, 01:40 PM | #7 | Junior Member Join Date: Oct 2005 Location: UK Posts: 10 | would that sort of prob show up on a diagnostics i.e. with a fault number? | | | 10-19-2005, 07:15 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: state college, pa Posts: 3,431 | Get yourself on some sand or a wet road. Bring it up to 3500 and drop the clutch. If the light blinks, it's the switch. If it doesn't, it's the light. Of course, it could always be the wiring or a wheel sensor. Cal-ti: shine a light onto the switch. It's a dark, dark translucent green. __________________ I scream, you scream, we all scream for ZOMBIES. | | | 10-19-2005, 08:20 PM | #9 | aka Stabby Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Mead, CO Posts: 5,336 | wow, never noticed that, i'll have to check it out. i was thinking of a regular green and couldn't envision where we had a switch like that he indicated that the light comes on when he first starts the car, so the bulb/light should be working. your test idea is a good one, that should indicate whether the ASC system is operating or not. __________________ 1996 318ti, California package, 267k miles current mods: bilstein sports, bavauto springs, e30 m3 LCABs, solid metal ball joints, bavauto RSMs w/reinforcements, e30 3.73 LSD & halfshafts, supersprint cat-back exhaust, turner rear sway bar reinforcements, IE poly subframe & RTABs + camber/toe kits, powdercoated e36 32x front calipers, sport mirrors, H&R 28mmF/19mmR sway bars, x-brace, auto solutions SSK w/poly bushing upgrade, BMW CD43 head unit, DICE HD Radio w/iPod integration and "stealth" HD antenna, staggered style 68s, orange electronic TPMS, leather arm rest, JT Designs metal undertray acquired and awaiting install: heated seat kit, cali top switch relo, lumbar support kit, park distance control kit, heated washer nozzle kit, m-coupe rear subframe, trailing arms, differential, and halfshafts, m-coupe front/rear brakes with master cylinder, under hood light kit, mud flaps, rear sun blind, auto-dimming rear view mirror, tilt steering wheel retrofit, apexcone 5000K HIDs with 55W ballasts 2002 X5 4.4 Sport Package, 53.5k miles Current Mods: e46 m3 steering wheel | | | 10-20-2005, 01:29 PM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: Charlotte, NC Posts: 120 | you should take it to the $tealer, cause i almost guarantee you arnt gonna find an inde shop with the BMW GT1 scanner. light functional or not it can tell the technician if there is a fault and if it is the module or somthing else, __________________ 95' black 318i fogged airbox, understeer SSK, euro clear corners, blacked out kidney grill, custom (black) painted side skirts and bumpers, PBR brake pads, zimmerman rotors, | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
