Default Custom differentials with LSD or Quaife

I found this web site I thought was worth sharing. Apparently they can build diffs for our cars with all sorts of gears and options.

Well worth a look at.

Those prices are insane. I remember talking to them when I was shopping for my diff, basically laughed and hung up. Here in California, you can pick up an e24, e28 or e30 diff at a wrecking yard for $50-$250 ALL DAY LONG. So what if it's used, if it lasts you 5 years, you can replace it 10 times over the course of 50 years before you even come close to spending as much as you would at diffsonline. Save yourself the money, buy a diff from a wrecking yard and rebuild it yourself when needed.

The ratio I'm after is an odd bod. I'm after a 2.93 or 2.79 diff with LSD. Unfortunately the wreckers don't have them anywhere. Using an open diff on my car is only a short term solution before it destroys itself.

In the US, the 2.93 LSD came on the E30 325e/es. There are usually a bunch for sale on e30tech.com.

You can buy a used diff for less money, if you can find the ratio you want. There are also some guys that can build them cheaper but Dan from DiffsOnline is the best. There is a reason why almost every racer uses a diff from him if they have a custom diff.

While the oem diffs are mega cheap, the lock rate leaves a lot to be desired. The locking rate is improved by the adding additional clutches to the diff but the BMW housing can only accept so many.

Upgrading to a kaaz or os giken lsd unit will provide absolutely insane levels of diff performance that can't be compared against the oem BMW diffs.
