I noticed that there is a slight gap between the diffuser and the bumper on at the edges of the black diffuser piece (See pic). On my 330ti CS, the gap is the same, but I noticed a samll piece of black tape/trim that either the factory placed there or the previous owner did. This gap is probably not noticeable on a black car, but is on my white car. For those with an original M-tech rear bumper that hasn't been repainted since it left the factory, what I want to know is if this black tape in the gap is a factory applied piece and if so, there must be a BMW part number. On realoem.com, there is a part number that related to "foil" that is described as Schwarz, which I believe means black in German. If the factory put this black tape there, then this must be the right part. 14 FOIL M SCHWARZ 2 51122268588 $4.40 __________________ '95 330ti CS w/sr delete, S50USB30, cams, 24# inj, Conforti SW, Euro HFM, Samco Silicone Intake Boot, BBTB, Euro Oil Cooler, JTD CAI Duct, RE DMS exhaust, RE Tranny mounts, CF Valve Cover, LTW flywheel/Kevlar sprung hub clutch, RE SSK, 3.46 Finned LSD (M6) , M3 tranny, Brembos, RE Wheel Studs, SS brake/clutch lines, CF interior, Rear Headrest retrofit, Tilt Steering retrofit, 13.5 lb DynaBatt in rear, LED interior/footwell lights, ZKW HID, Headlight Aim Control, Rear fog light w/cluster indicator, CF 3 Aux gauge pod, BMW Traffic Pro/Alpine MP3-CD Changer, Staggered LTW wheels, '95 M3 steering rack, VIS CF Hood, M3 LTW Strut Bar, TCK SA coilovers, Red LTW Motorsport Seatbelts, OEM Fire Extinguisher, Z8 Starter button, Auto dim rear view mirror w/ Homelink/Compass, PDC, Rear Sun Shade, Euro Gauge Cluster w/oil temp/shift light , Headlight Washers, "Motorsport" Door Handles, CF Grills, French ZKW Fogs, Euro dash bins, Power Lumbar Support is next, Coming e39 M5 interior light, Bimmer Magazine 8/2007 | | | 03-21-2008, 11:07 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2006 Location: Land of the Vikings Posts: 2,700 | hmm, lt me have a look , and ill be back with some info buddy __________________ Vin Number decode and Retrofit Pdfs Available Free ! The twin pipe out (323ti) is 51 12 2 496 320 new number --------------------------------- these are the SALOON / COUPE / CABRIO and TOURING options and i think this could be what is on yours. the numbers for the twin out is 51 12 2 233 364 hmm. mine fits all the way in to the trim . __________________ Vin Number decode and Retrofit Pdfs Available Free ! The question is more specific in terms of the small gap at both end of the diffuer insert where it meets the bumper. Is there a samll black rubber or plastic strip or piece of tape covering the paint in the gap so that it's less obvious. It's a samll detail, but one I would like to know. I will post up a pic of my 330ti's diffusers/bumper gap which has a piece of black tape there. I was wondering if the factory installed the tape or if Ben Liaw did it. Thanks. Maybe thesk8nmidget can chime in. He just got a CS. __________________ '95 330ti CS w/sr delete, S50USB30, cams, 24# inj, Conforti SW, Euro HFM, Samco Silicone Intake Boot, BBTB, Euro Oil Cooler, JTD CAI Duct, RE DMS exhaust, RE Tranny mounts, CF Valve Cover, LTW flywheel/Kevlar sprung hub clutch, RE SSK, 3.46 Finned LSD (M6) , M3 tranny, Brembos, RE Wheel Studs, SS brake/clutch lines, CF interior, Rear Headrest retrofit, Tilt Steering retrofit, 13.5 lb DynaBatt in rear, LED interior/footwell lights, ZKW HID, Headlight Aim Control, Rear fog light w/cluster indicator, CF 3 Aux gauge pod, BMW Traffic Pro/Alpine MP3-CD Changer, Staggered LTW wheels, '95 M3 steering rack, VIS CF Hood, M3 LTW Strut Bar, TCK SA coilovers, Red LTW Motorsport Seatbelts, OEM Fire Extinguisher, Z8 Starter button, Auto dim rear view mirror w/ Homelink/Compass, PDC, Rear Sun Shade, Euro Gauge Cluster w/oil temp/shift light , Headlight Washers, "Motorsport" Door Handles, CF Grills, French ZKW Fogs, Euro dash bins, Power Lumbar Support is next, Coming e39 M5 interior light, Bimmer Magazine 8/2007 | | | 03-21-2008, 07:38 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2007 Location: Eugene Oregon Posts: 6,182 | just went out and looked at mine and it looks as if the bumper has a piece of rubber lining(almost like a seal)on the red plastic that the diffuser sits against. in your picture it would be right where the point of the arrow is EDIT:uploading picture soon __________________ -Josh Sold-1995 318ti, Club Sport, Hellrot Sold-1996 318ti, Active Model, Boston Green Current- 1995 318ti, sport model, schwartz | | | 03-21-2008, 07:46 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2007 Location: Eugene Oregon Posts: 6,182 | hope this helps ya chris its almost like a paint. im sure you could tape it off real quick and spary a quick layer of semi gloss black and call it good. __________________ -Josh Sold-1995 318ti, Club Sport, Hellrot Sold-1996 318ti, Active Model, Boston Green Current- 1995 318ti, sport model, schwartz | | | 03-21-2008, 08:25 PM | #7 | That's not Millpoint Blue Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: BNA Posts: 3,161 | Oh good grief... you guys made me curious about this so I actually went out to look. LOL My car is black, so it's really hard to tell any difference, but yeah, I can tell that the area in question is flat black rather than glossy. I can see how it would be a bit of an eyesore on a white car, especially if you're picky about such things. Like "the midge" suggested, you could paint it fairly easily since it's not in an extremely noticeable spot. __________________ Real men know how to SEARCH! So it sounds like I have to fix this little problem. Like you guys said, it's easy, but if you know me, I'll have to buy the OEM "schwarz foil" and do it the factory way. It's called OCD. BTW, Josh, looks like your passernger side gap is fairly large compared to mine and with no gap on the other side, it sounds like you need to recenter your diffuser so the gap is equal on both sides. Undo the two hex screws on the bottom edges and use a flat screw driver to pry the locking clips from the inside of the rear bumper. __________________ '95 330ti CS w/sr delete, S50USB30, cams, 24# inj, Conforti SW, Euro HFM, Samco Silicone Intake Boot, BBTB, Euro Oil Cooler, JTD CAI Duct, RE DMS exhaust, RE Tranny mounts, CF Valve Cover, LTW flywheel/Kevlar sprung hub clutch, RE SSK, 3.46 Finned LSD (M6) , M3 tranny, Brembos, RE Wheel Studs, SS brake/clutch lines, CF interior, Rear Headrest retrofit, Tilt Steering retrofit, 13.5 lb DynaBatt in rear, LED interior/footwell lights, ZKW HID, Headlight Aim Control, Rear fog light w/cluster indicator, CF 3 Aux gauge pod, BMW Traffic Pro/Alpine MP3-CD Changer, Staggered LTW wheels, '95 M3 steering rack, VIS CF Hood, M3 LTW Strut Bar, TCK SA coilovers, Red LTW Motorsport Seatbelts, OEM Fire Extinguisher, Z8 Starter button, Auto dim rear view mirror w/ Homelink/Compass, PDC, Rear Sun Shade, Euro Gauge Cluster w/oil temp/shift light , Headlight Washers, "Motorsport" Door Handles, CF Grills, French ZKW Fogs, Euro dash bins, Power Lumbar Support is next, Coming e39 M5 interior light, Bimmer Magazine 8/2007 | | | 03-21-2008, 09:33 PM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2007 Location: Eugene Oregon Posts: 6,182 | thanks chris i will have to do that one day at work when were not busy.
