He came and took a look at the cover and told me I had to remove a couple plates on the underside of the valve cover, one which has a rubber gasket. My question is what is these plates called, specifically the one with the rubber gasket. I want to just replace it since I have the engine ripped apart but running the part number that is on it I can't find any matchs. The plate in question is attach to the side that the breather hose attaches to the valve cover and I assume that it is there so the breath hose doesnt suck up any oil being sprayed around by the cams and oil return tubes that are attached to the plate. I attached some pictures of everything in question. So the phrase of the days is "NAME THAT PART".....any help would be nice. You are correct, that plate seperates air from oil so you don't blow your oil out the vent. Just use some RTV sealer when reassembling. The copper stuff should work good as it can take the most heat. __________________ '99 Dinan M3 | | | 10-28-2006, 06:33 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2004 Location: Manassas, VA Posts: 4,129 | While on the subject of valve cover removal, how much trouble is it to remove the cover to be powdercoated, then reinstalled? What parts need to be replaced? Quote: Originally Posted by DustenT It doesn't appear to be a replaceable part, it's probably sold with the valve cover. My powder coater said he'll do a bead blast on it to get it good and clean. As far as down time it takes a couple of days for it to get finished and returned to you, usually it depends on what colors the powder coater runs each day. The key is to get a good in with someone in the biz and you can get parts back in 24 hours like me. I'll post some pictures after I when I get it back....should be tues or wed...depends when I can run it over to him __________________ 1998 M-tech 325ti; Hellrot: M50 Swap, Cold-Air Intake, Custom Magna-Flow Exhaust, Depo Housings w/55 Watt HID, Yellow Fogs,Tinted Windows (35%), M3 Front Spoiler Lip, Black Grills, X-Brace, 17" Drag DR-19 wrapped with Hankook VR-12s, Bilstein HD with M-Tec Springs | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
