It has been open since I got my ti. The last time I bought some dealer parts, I ordered parts 15 and 23 on this diagram and installed them. http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...62&hg=51&fg=30 Anyway, I got thinking... what are these covers for? Did some options put switches here? Has anyone done a mod which uses this part? | | | 11-06-2009, 03:03 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Elizabeth City, NC Posts: 3,877 | That is where my ASC button is to turn it off and on. That is the only switch in the panel in my car. The other two are blank. __________________ ~Dave~ 98 328ti Morea Grun slicktop 11 128i space gray slicktop 13 JGC WK2 Deep Cherry Search | RealOEM | | | 11-06-2009, 05:28 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2006 Location: Oxford, Ohio Posts: 868 | at least you have a button... mine looks like this... But it looks better than the hole that was there. | | | 11-06-2009, 05:30 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2008 Location: North Carolina Posts: 190 | I put one switch for fog lights there. Also I wired up my cooling fan for a simple on/off toggle switch, and installed it there too. I believe BMW would have left room there for dealer installed options. There is a good amount of room there, if you are creative you could make a switch for most anything? I.E. Push start button, underglow lights??,.... | | | 11-06-2009, 05:30 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | I wonder what the other two slots are, and how BMW had the foresight to put them on the original ti's before they even came out with ASC | | | 11-06-2009, 06:58 AM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: Portland Or Posts: 2,666 | I think one is the button we can't have in the US, it disables the antilock brakes. I don't know if they have seperate switch for rear fog light as well. A neighbor has one and sitting still it looks badass. http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...ive/index.html Not sure if that story mentions it but the JDM ones have 2 settings in the chip. One is for street and one is for track. If the GPS determines you are near one of the approved tracks it changes programming to give you the track settings. And we think other places have harsh speeding laws....
