I don't have much experience on banks. I drove NHIS once. Just once and that was years ago. When I drive with the local BMW chapter at VIR, I'm pretty much in the middle. I pass a couple cars, a few pass me. It's a fast group. When I drive with the local Porsche region, I'm doing a lot of passing. And when I drive other tracks with other chapters, I feel downright scared at the level of skill other groups show. I'm just saying I feel your steering input needs to be smoother. When both hands are at 7:00, you really don't know where straight is if you where to run into a problem. Some instructors believe you must keep your hands in one position all times. I try to keep my hands in one position but find myself shuffle steering or rather pre-positioning on long sweepers. It's a habit I'm trying to get out of. Sometimes I have no choice because of my gut. But never both hands on one side of the wheel. Please take it as constructive criticism. I mean no harm in my comments. If you feel you are fast now, you will be faster if you can smooth out your steering inputs. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 10-14-2013, 01:22 AM | #137 | Member Join Date: Oct 2011 Location: cedar rapids iowa Posts: 79 | You must have X-ray vision to see my hands. You sure you aren't talking about the Mustang driver? I'm the black BMW. The red Mustang is the camera car. And my hands are ALWAYS firmly planted at 3 and 9 on the Momo steering wheel. | | | 10-14-2013, 01:48 AM | #138 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Quote: Originally Posted by slowoldpoop You must have X-ray vision to see my hands. The Mustang driver is driving such a high hp car? Yikes! __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 10-14-2013, 03:37 AM | #139 | Member Join Date: Oct 2011 Location: cedar rapids iowa Posts: 79 | That Mustang driver is an instructor, runs the Track Guys driving school, and is one of the finest drivers out there. He has hundreds--if not thousands--of hours behind the wheel, run dozens and dozens of tracks all over the country, and taught hundreds of people how to drive--including me. Perhaps he knows a teeny bit more about driving than you do. If his hand movements don't fit your idea of a perfect driver, tough. Whatever he's doing works, because he goes like a bat out of hell. The only reason I passed him is because he wanted to get some video of me, and he let me by. | | | 10-14-2013, 06:25 AM | #140 | Member Join Date: May 2007 Location: Florida Posts: 90 | Quote: Originally Posted by 323titorup | Nice my Friend! 964 is no slouch and neither is a well sorted Ti! | | | 10-14-2013, 02:35 PM | #141 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Quote: Originally Posted by slowoldpoop That Mustang driver is an instructor, runs the Track Guys driving school, and is one of the finest drivers out there. The car is quicker in tight turns now, but the jury is out on whether or not overall handling has improved. | | | 10-14-2013, 05:36 PM | #143 | Member Join Date: May 2007 Location: Florida Posts: 90 | I have 700lbs springs in the rear and the stock rear swaybar and have never had a problem with front wheel lift. Just well planted and neutral! Well maybe dropping into hog pen at VIR or turn 3 Road Atlanta! | | | 10-24-2013, 04:29 AM | #144 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2011 Location: SoCal Posts: 702 | Quote: Originally Posted by 323titorup | Quick question on you m52 build, is it iron block? other then bolt on's does the engine have stock head/block? __________________ ***328ti Build thread. *** Even more important: SUPPORT 318ti.org! One of my members got a bit over exuberant in his driving level. Got us a time out on Saturday and did this on Sunday, portion. Needless to say I'm a bit upset as the car is torn up again and He has been the the contributing factor. | | | 08-23-2014, 03:29 PM | #146 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Elizabeth City, NC Posts: 3,877 | __________________ ~Dave~ 98 328ti Morea Grun slicktop 11 128i space gray slicktop 13 JGC WK2 Deep Cherry Search | RealOEM | | | 08-23-2014, 04:12 PM | #147 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2007 Location: Fl Posts: 1,353 | Great shots Dave.
