Default 1996 318Ti Sport - Is this possible?

Hi,

Well, I'm brand spanking new!

My Subaru Imprezza got stolen out of my garage the other night, so I'm on the hunt for a new car. I'm considering getting a 318Ti.

So... apart from saying 'Hi', I figured I'd ask a wee question about a car that I am considering at the moment. This one: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/List...940&key=434693

I'm looking to spend up to $10,00 NZD (which is $6,300 USD). For that money I also want to have a decent alarm and stero (that can play MP3 disks).

OK - my question. This car says it is a 1996 318Ti Sport. From what I've read (on this site mainly), the sport only came out in Red or Black, and it only came out in 1995. I guess the car was imported from Japan if that makes any difference.

Is this possible?

Thanks,

Zane-O

You are confusing sport (all years, all 1.8L or 1.9L) with Clubsport ('95 only, mostly small trim differences). No big difference but wait for a manual shift sport model- you'll appreciate the added power and control.

The Mp3 will have to be aftermarket, unless you do Ipod w/ cassette adapter.

yea that's a sport, not a club sport(limited to 200 in 1995). not much of a differance.

M44 in the 96 M42 in the Club Sport
electronic stability control in the 96, none in the Club Sport
It's an Auto, all Club Sports were 5spds
The 96 might have a open diff with a 4.10 ratio being Auto, the Club Sport has a 3.45 LSD.

You folk are nice speedy reply-ers .

Sweeet - I see my mistake. I'll probably stick with the Auto 'cause it's too hard to eat your lunch, talk on the phone, send text messages etc... while you are changing gears.
I regularly dream about the idea of a true auto/manual car. ie. not TipTronix - a real clutch manual, that you can somehow flik over onto 'Auto' mode. Anyway, that's waaaay off topic.

Sorry for being so thick, but is there a similar price BMW that's a similar size, but bigger engine?

No there's not,you could always do an engine swap which people have done before. There are a few people on this site that have done a swap, most recently Jim did one

Are sports supposed to have sport seats? I don't see them in this one.
