Assuming I purchase them, is there anything else I should be getting to complement them? Is it ok to put them on the front before I get some for the rear, or should I wait? TIA for your advice. __________________ --------------------------------------- '97 Hellrot 318ti - Active, 5 speed 17'' BMW Motorsport Wheels ACS-"Style" (E-Bay, haha) Racing Pedals M Frontspoiler (OEM) Alpine CDA 9827 MP3/CD Head Unit Alpine E12 Subwoofer (now stolen) Audiobahn A4002T Amp (also now stolen) Dented driver side fender (provided courtesy of blind 80 year old woman) Keyed passenger door (provided by someone who likes to key red cars) Soon to come (now that I've graduated and have a real job) S52 Engine Swap!!! Should I just buy the links from the dealer? Also I only have a vague knowledge about bushings and that stuff... everything I've learned about it I've picked up from this site... I know what they look like, and sort of what they do... how many do I need? Four? Two? I'm most likely getting these sways... are the swaybar links off of Bav Auto ( www.bavauto.com) the ones I need? Part # : 31 35 1 091 764 Part # : 33 55 1 126 932 Also... I guess this might be a stupid question, but please don't flame Can sways AND an X-Brace be used, or is it one or the other... as far as I understand the parts, they do the same thing, and I was planning on getting an x-brace. If you can't use the two together, would it be better to get an X-Brace than the m3 sways? Remove the single bar brace. when you install the X-brace. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 04-27-2005, 04:44 AM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: Garden City, NY/Daytona Beach, FL Posts: 228 | Quote: Originally Posted by 1996 328ti Sure. EDIT: The point I'm trying to make is that I'd like to avoid buying these sways in a set, front and rear, and then getting rid of the front and buying an x-brace and ditching the front sway that I just bought. This is all if I'm understanding you correctly, and that I can't have the two doubled up in the front. The sway bar is different than the straight brace (or x-brace) In two of the six holes where the x-brace will go, there is already a bar there. (about 2-3 feet long). That's the single bar he's talking about. | | | 04-27-2005, 04:52 AM | #13 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: Garden City, NY/Daytona Beach, FL Posts: 228 | Quote: Originally Posted by CirrusSR22 Nope. Courtesy of a previous post by maurolin. http://www.318ti.org/forum/showthread.php?t=3732 The small orange bar at the bottom is the front sway bar, and that big orange x is the x-brace. | | | 04-27-2005, 06:18 PM | #15 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: Garden City, NY/Daytona Beach, FL Posts: 228 | Thanks again cirrus! I was reading up on that thread... saw something about too much stiffness might cause cracks and stuff, or you need "serious dampening." Don't even know about the dampening, but the cracks sound scary... whatever, I'm buying the sways, and we'll see about the x-brace after I find out more about it... Besides, those "nutserts" sound like a royal pain unless you can find the tool. I'll get to the x-brace this summer probably if all goes well with the sways.
