Hey. SO I have a CEL about the "EVAP shut off valve". Does anyone know what this is and/or how to fix this? I need to get my smog check done but can't b/c of this CEL. Please help me out. Thanks, Marvin btw, i have a 1997 S52 in my 318ti. Everything was swapped into it from the donor car. And the code that came off of the OBD II scanner was P1403. __________________ -Theta Chi- Float like a cadilac, sting like a BIMMER .... my socket is just too thick and won't fit in the hole! damnit! Marv, did you ever resolve this? If so can you let me know what the solution was? I'm having the same problem. | | | 10-05-2011, 02:42 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Halethorpe, MD Posts: 1,028 | I wanted to follow up to this thread with the resolution for future reference. I ended up taking mine to a local shop to track this down after my attempts to resolve it failed. I replaced the "shut-off valve" (16131184235) that is actually attached to the charcoal canister behind the door on the drivers side. This did not resolve the P1403 code. It turns out that there's another valve in the engine compartment called the "fuel tank breather valve" (13901744150) that was the culprit. The shop swapped that out and the check engine light is off with no pending codes. While this happened on my S52 swapped car, these parts are both present on the M44 as well. Hopefully this will help someone in the future. | | | 10-05-2011, 08:21 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2010 Location: Riverside ,So-Cal Posts: 725 | Thanks for the info __________________ EURO FRESH | | | 10-06-2011, 10:05 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Halethorpe, MD Posts: 1,028 | Hold the phone. The light has come back. It looks like I've got some melted wiring in the engine harness which is probably the source of this particular issue. | | | 03-08-2016, 12:05 AM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2008 Location: San Diego Posts: 179 | Resurrected again? Coding it out in the DME is a possible solution but if all the EVAP parts are there it seems like it should be able to work. __________________ 98 318ti MSport M52, 88 M3, 97 M3/4 | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
