Default Engine bay differences z3 and 318

I have been looking at v8 conversions for 318's and most of their faq pages say not to use a z3. I have a 98 1.9l z3 and i dont really see that much of a difference b/t the engine bay of a 318 and z3, so my question is would one of these v8 conversions work on my z just the same at it does on the 318.
If I can do the engine swap in the z with relativly little extra work I would jump all over it. Thanks for any help I can get.

I think Schnitzer or Hartge (in Germany) did a Z3 swap like you are envisioning a few years ago. It was written up in a Bimmer magazine. If you check with Bimmer, they may be able to direct you to the particular back issue, which may or may not help you.

I have the issue in question (I have all issues of Bimmer since number 1), but I do not remember which issue it was.

I would expect it to be of equal difficulty in either car, but I will say there are some differences in the M roadster and M3, based on my personal experience.

ls1 since they make the conversion kit for the 318. I figure it will probably work im my car just the same, and if it needs more work it won't be that much more where i can't handle the extra modification
