I have about 155,000 miles on my engine and one of my spark plug slots is stripped and I used a type of rethreading kit and it runs great but would like to install a lower mileage M44 engine. Im not sure how long the spark plug fix will last. My last resort will be to buy the M44 upgrade engine from Bavarian Engine Exchange. But I don't have the $4500.00 to spend on the upgrade engine. | | | 05-17-2005, 04:22 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2004 Location: Port St. Johns, Florida Posts: 2,242 | i have a EuroSpec engine with 149k. it's strong though, and i was using it strong til the car spun out in the rain. | | | 05-17-2005, 04:53 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: PA Posts: 822 | You have a eurospec M44 1.9L 16v engine? Would that require any extra mods or would it be plug and play? How much are you looking to sell the engine for? | | | 05-17-2005, 04:56 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2005 Location: NW of Chicago Posts: 111 | | | | 05-17-2005, 05:00 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2004 Location: Port St. Johns, Florida Posts: 2,242 | should be plug and play. | | | 05-17-2005, 05:00 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: PA Posts: 822 | Quote: Originally Posted by Blackie | Good looking out man! That translates to 140 or 138 hp, in DIN hp and SAE hp, respectively. The main difference I know about is that U.S. M44 engines have OBD-II whereas European ones do not. I get to explain this to the TάV and DEKRA every couple years when they try to hook up my car to their emissions tester. | | | 05-17-2005, 10:14 PM | #15 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Westchester, NY Posts: 234 | Quote: Originally Posted by madfronter Do any of you guys that did an Engine conversion have a used M44 engine for sale.
